Giggs, Scholes etc all came through longer than 20 years ago. Since then there's been very little, Fletcher is average at best.

Ok, I'm posting a lot of shit players now, but they're all the products of a youth system that clearly doesn't work.

Brown, O'Shea and Richardson only play in the PL, 'cos that bellend Steve Bruce was 'daft' enough to buy them.

Unfortunately the Derby youth system does produce good players that we then either sell for little cash or we let them get big headed and ruin their careers.

Roboto, giggs, beckham, nevilles, butt, all from the same crop, some 20yrs ago, fletcher came after and despite his problems bowel wise, when fully fit I'm not sure he's as indispensible a player as Fergie would have you believe. Would any other premiership team pay good money for him.

I agree that the quality hasn't been there, but the numbers have. You can't polish a turd. If they aren't good enough, they've been given a bit of League cup game time and sold on for more than they would be worth without this 'experience'.

I like Welbeck and Cleverley as future England prospects. They have a lot to learn, but have been thrown in the deep end with the England setup because no ones youth system has produced much in recent years.

Sinclair was one of Chelsea's best prospects wasn't he? He got loaned out everywhere, then signed for Swansea and eventually made his big money move. How is that working out?

Also, I just remembered, wasn't Pique a product of the Fergie youth system? I'm sure he was there for quite a while and now he's a Barca regular.

Pique was from Barca youth.

It depends where you consider the cut off - I'd say Pique was a product of the Man united youth because they blooded him with first team experience
