I think anyone caught diving should get an 8 match ban if they are proper foreigners. Four if they are foreign but don't look too foreign (Germans for example). Two if they are British. None if they play for United or Chelsea

Yentzing? Also, what's happened to Fellaini?

There's a lot to admire about the turnaround at NUFC but accepting a sponsorship deal from Wonga isn't one of them.

Stadium will be called St.James' again though..

I'd much rather have the government put a stop to their shady practices. Couldn't care less about what that stadium is called TBH.

Welcome to the football thread.

I read an article a few years back, probably by johnathon Wilson or Sid Lowe, talking to Jorge valdano, about argentinian players and how they are cunning, using a Spanish word, colloquialism for it, whereby diving, feigning injury and looking to get opposition players sent off, isn't seen as an inherently bad thing, but is part of the armoury of the modern football player and to a certain extent they are to be applauded or not reprimanded because it is held within the competitive sphere.
I think it was bought up in relation to maradona's hand of god goal, and tevez and mascherano in the premiership.
I think Suarez comes from that culture of, do what you can to gain an advantage for yourself and your team, because it's football and that is what is required to win. He sees no problem in that and will continue to do so until his manager and team mates tell him in no uncertain terms that it is not acceptable. And this being football every critic of him now (lfc supporters) will umm and ahh when a dive/simulation/feigned injury precedes a goal which wins a vital game..
The article was probably by Wilson, as he is wont to spout utter horseshit. Neither Aguero (see article) or Tevez ever dive, or even go down easily under a challenge, we miss out on penalties because of this. What culture do Bale, Young, Rooney come from.
Suarez is just a twat obv.

Worse than gambling companies would you say ? And of course the Premier League itself is sponsored by a bank involved in some extremely shady activities.

It was probably Tim vickery if it was south America.
Sid Lowe if it was Spain.I think I read the article, in the blizzard no doubt, and I think from badly recollected memories that they were talking about the culture of the street kid. El pibi. Which maradona and to an extent messi represent.

Haha, chose Arsenal ~ 91/92 I think. That's about as early as I remember. Ian Wright.
Successful-ish.

Plastic.
Oh FFS.
It's great that FIFA are finally starting to take diving seriously

But why do the BBC have to continue the Suarez witch-hunt by using his image. Why not a picture of Ashley Young?
