Yesil is his name, looks a prospect. When BR signed him he said it'd be a year... that's when we had strikers though

Really strong side put out by AVB
Lloris
Walker Verthonghen Caulker Naughton
Dembele Sandro
Dempsey
Lennon Defoe BaleReally liking the look of Verthonghen he's pretty ficking silky in possession and looks to beat his man and make a pass forward. Dembele is impressing too, he beats the first man to him so easily it feels too easy..

• #65812
Dempsey was so onside for that disallowed goal, and that reverse pass for Lennon to chase is there everytime we push forward.
Someones got to take the freekicks apart from bale he keeps clipping the wall..
-

Another good goal disallowed, Caulker did nothing more than hold his ground.
Great strike by Gonzalez that hit the bar, but apart from that and the odd defensive lapse we've looked solid at the back, and fluid going forward.
We have looked a bit toothless right at the sharp end, in need of a bit of a urging edge and a piece of magic.
Interesting that AVB made Lennon captain tonight. He wouldn't have been the first choice that sprung to mind..

A rather mild piece for the Stoke game tomorrow.

I caught the last 17 minutes so missed all the goals :(
But from what I saw of the highlights looked like an exciting game and our youngsters looked promising. It's worrying that we are yet to keep a clean sheet this season except the dull Hearts game -

jurys is out on Sahin still, showed some nice passing, probably rusty. Impressed by Wisdom and Suso in particular
Carra is a real liability.
I only managed to watch the second half, entertaining football for Liverpool away in europe, who'd have thought?

A lot of promise in the young players I thought.
Willing to take on opponents and for the most part beat them (although they often knocked the ball on too far ahead, allowing other defenders to cover).
I felt their movement and passing was generally good, but let down at times by getting in each other's way.
Carra is a liability, yes, and I found myself looking at Enrique and thinking "who's filling that massive gap at left-back?" more times than is desirable. Still, if shipping 3 goals a game means we score 5, I'm happy with that.
I got the feeling that had that side been played in the premiership they'd have been out-muscled a lot more, but the long-term future does look a lot better than it has in a long while.TL;DR You'll never win anything with kids and a geriatric centre back.

enrique had what i thought was one of his worst games in a liverpool shirt. he seemed missing at times playing more left midfield than left back missing quite a few tackles people getting past him quite easily ... i couldn't see why rodgers didn't pick him for a few games early in the season but last night showed he can have his off days but on the whole i like him as an attacking left back with skill on the ball and a decent shot at the end of it ... maybe his confidence is a little bit shot currently as rodgers has played a right back a left winger and a youth team member in his position.. maybe he's feeling a bit unloved
come on jose, buck up young man

So Spurs showed some nice flashes yesterday, without scoring, though we had three "good" goals disallowed.
Anyone of them would have probably changed the game, forcing Lazio to be more of an attacking threat and opening up spaces for us on the counter..
Michael Cox did a piece on the sandro/dembele combination in midfield for us..
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/blog/2012/sep/16/tottenham-sandro-flexibility-readingand this was shown again last night, the training ground drills and their ability to hold the ball under pressure, make us a much more fluid team as we can recycle the ball. We looked comfortable holding onto possession, and looking for an opening, if we lost the ball we'd work back to harry the opposition and then try again.
Dembele was the one who came forward more often, but vertonghen would bring the ball out of defence as well, very assured, and both dempsey and lennon (who needs to have a go more often, found himself in a couple of positions where he could have gone for goal, and decided to pass instead) look like they will put other teams in difficulty.
So here's how I thought we'd line up before the transfer window closed, relating back to how AVB used to set up his Porto side
and here is how we lined up yesterday.
suso morgan and the german turk up front tonight ?
sahin midfield
coates in defense
scottish dude at left back
jamie alongside coates
could make for an interesting watch and it could be us with the young boys tag !
