Forgot about Arsenal at the old Wembley, good point.

Chelsea have been looking to expand their stadium for years, the current location has to many restrictions because of the proximity to the underground lines at the East Stand I believe. Earls Court has been touted as a future location, this is now off the cards as well as it's been sold to some private investment company to go and build houses on it, only viable option I can think of is move South of the river or move a few games per season to Wembley. They'd easily get 50,000+ crowds if they price it right.

They could bulldoze Craven Cottage, use that site, no one would miss Fulham.

Since financial strength has returned, the need for such cash flow is not so urgent. Seasoin ticket prices have been frozen for the past four or five years but season tickets are harder to come by. A non renewed season ticket is not allocated to someone on a waiting list but only allocated to members with sufficient loyalty points. To get a season ticket you have to have been to every home game and some away games for a few seasons. .

Arsenal its all about your ticket in the queue. sadly, but the numbers of silver and red members that can buy a ticket has shot up with the aforementioned lawyers losing interest in the not so fabulous super soccer mega champion decider events.

Lucky for us the crooks (lawyers/bankers) splash out top dollar (5 times what i pay) to sit club level. every little helps.. as they say

That said, the vast preponderance of the Chelsea crowd and almost all the away support, are the same people who I saw at football matches 25 or 30 years ago. In those days most supporters appeared to be my age; today, sadly, they still are. Ticket prices have something to do with this. Mind you, these are the people who watched Chelsea play when times were hard and, as a result of financial mismanagement, Chelsea dropped almost down to Div 3.

Arsenal supporters, of course, cannot say whether they would still go to watch Arsenal in the second or third tier. Given their fickle nature, it is reasonable to suppose that most would not. Their ground is largely given over to expensive season tickets for which there is a waiting list. The bulk of their core support are lawyers or bankers, a core that was added to when Islington residents were given priority for season tickets at the new stadium. Only local lawyers or bankers could afford the prices. The residents of the council estates in the UK's sixth poorest borough did not get a look in. Arsenal need to season ticket cash flow to feed their debt burden. The only passing trade that they get is from the various clients that the lawyers and bankers bring to matches. What was an atmosphere-lacking ground at Highbury has become a morgue at the Emirates as the supporters sit in their plush cushhioned seats wondering what the rugby score might be.

I guess those 2.8 million were to busy sweeping the roads and saving our lives to actively become members, instead they sold their very children, belongings, dignity and non-vital organs to buy second hand tickets off of real Chelsea members.. until the day came when they had their chance to get their very own chelsea membership ticket.

The poor lined the streets of west London buying Panini football cards because rumour had it... 5 of those sticker packs contain CHELSEA SEASON TICKET!

It's a tough call, I might just sit back with the Arsenal and watch Wenger do his football thing (albeit short of a midfielder, world class keeper.. etc etc)

They could groundshare with Reading so when Abramovich gets bored/arrested/assassinated* the crushing financial blow would be cushioned as they sink like a stone through the divisions.

I once started a rumour that Chelsea were planning to move to Guildford. It grew in currency to the extent that the club formally denied it. Quite proud of that, I was.

Chelsea cannot expand their present ground because of "egress" issues. They hqave promised only to move within walking distance. There are not many possible sites in SW6 or SW3. Chelsea Barracks and Earls Court are two that have been mentioned in the past. I suspect that Chelsea will stay put for quite a while.
