  • Good luck to Hughton at Norwich, I can understand bailing out of a club with financial and legal problem like Brum (how does this shit happen in ffs?? Due diligence my arse), but Norwich seems like a sideways step, and moving on after only a year after how Newcastle treated him, you'd have thought he'd know a thing or two about loyalty. Mid-table/relegation fodder at Norwich or another stab at the Championship and promotion with the Blues?

TBF on the club and our fans, they've been very good about the loss. Frankly I think it's because we've got bigger fish to fry with this crook owner.

  • Agree with the salary cap but clubs would only find innovative ways to pay players via bonuses.

  • So there would be a home league and a Europe league?
Good luck in maintaining supporter happiness and attendance all season with that.

  • Also: What team do you support? And how old are you?

    (grooming)

  • Anyway, my brother in law is about to talk about his book on Radio Derby. If anyone is interested in buying a book this year.

  • to maintain unpredictability you would have to ensure that no team aspires to become better. Set up a complicated system of rules to prevent teams from becoming unequal. Punish teams for being good at running their business properly, attracting investment, attracting supporters, playing good football, winning etc etc etc. You may start off with all teams equal but what happens when some start to be better than others through hard work? Do you think Man Utd and Arsenal etc were born as massive clubs or did they work hard to achieve a position of superiority? Small teams need to HTFU and get on with it.

  • Or formulate a business plan that makes them more likely to accumulate wealth and talent. And hang on to it for as long as possible.

  • or employ Nigel Clough...?

  • The big step forward at Derby was Tom Glick.

  • ....I just want everything in the world to be equal...and I wish there was a stop to war and all bad things.

  • especially bullying!

  • Ooooooh-eeeeooooohhhh Derby County!

  • Football thread has improved today. Thanks "Chalfie". I look forward to reading that book too.

  • Stoke aren't bankrupting themselves, and they've tasted Euro success.

  • Also:
the pull of Champions league will inevitably lead to teams focussing on Europa league (see Spanish domination) and generating extra cash and pulling further away.

    More inequality there.
In fact, wanting teams to do well if they win and have more supporters will drive the system towards inequality. The winning teams will need and will accumulate more through success.
It will take either the inception of new rules to share wealth (ha!) or people with wealth throwing it at new clubs or clubs dominating europa league to win more cash and supporters to break into next tier.
which is basically what's been happening for years.

  • mancini to leave city for the italy managers job

  • Absolutely no chance.

Hearing rumours of Bale to MCFC for Adebayor + £20m though. Which would be nice.

  • his wife doesn't like the many shades of grey to be found in manchester according to the papers
she already spends most of her time in italy .... and you know what those mediteranean temperaments are like
    she'll get her way

She's a bit ropy looking IMO, he'd probably prefer it if she was away. Italian football is back on it's arse with the lastest corruption scandal too.
