  • That's the consecutive list. The list for the number of seasons in the top flight in total is;

    Everton 107 seasons
    Villa 99 seasons
    Liverpool 95 seasons
    Arsenal 93 seasons
    ManUtd 85 seasons

    leans back and crosses arms

Out of interest, where are Chelsea on that list?

  • Cause they are proud of their history and methodical/stable rise through english football and haven't needed to huge amounts of foreign investment to buy their way up the league?

That and it shuts the scum up.

We're all painfully aware of that, but why keep reminding everyone? Do you think that people will forget? What chance of forgetting when you lot keep on and on and on and on and on.

I thought there was the slim chance that today would be different. Instead, no. Once again the fans of the teams that won't win anything this year keep reminding us that they have won things in the past when they realise that they won't win anything this season. Again.

Look forward, not back. It's the direction we're headed in. History is just that. History.

  • i don't really care about the willy-waving, but it is almost as bad as liverpool fans doing the '5' thing, now that their '18' thing is fucked.

  • I love it when the gooners get all bolshy... Just cuz we came along and ruined their cosy little party... Arsenal (and Liverpool) have been uncompetitive for fucking years now, just deal with it...

  • Cause they are proud of their history and methodical/stable rise through english football and haven't needed to huge amounts of foreign investment to buy their way up the league?

That and it shuts the scum up.

Isn't there a Russian balls-deep in the Effemiantes?

  • yep - the 2nd biggest shareholder!

  • Amazing. Twenty years ago, who would ever have imagined a Russian and an American in business together? Let's face it, they're treating what fundamentally is a game as a business opportunity. And ruining it.

The Glazers have built their empire on debt, as have those pricks at Anfield. How many solvent clubs are there in the Prem?

  • Number of years in the top division of English football, current list;

    Arsenal 90 years
    Everton 55 years
    Liverpool 47 years
    Man U 34 years
    Spurs 31 years
    Aston Villa 21 years
    Chelsea 20 years

Which just means that you'll never find an Arse or scouser who can say with any certainty that they would follow their team outside the top flight. Glory huneters the lot of them.

  • No History....

    a. Untrue.

    b. I'd prefer to have a future than history.

  • Those russians are astute business men.. he clearly sees the security in investing in a great club with a great history ;)

    wage bills

    TEAM - WAGES (,000s) - % Rise
    Chelsea £172,096 30%
    Man United £121,080 31%
    Arsenal £101,302 13%
    Liverpool £90,438 17%

We're all painfully aware of that, but why keep reminding everyone? Do you think that people will forget? What chance of forgetting when you lot keep on and on and on and on and on.

Rooney doesn't need to be reminded that he shagged a granny, but he is by most away fans at most games.

History is a massive part, the naming of the tube station, the addition of the white sleeves on the shirt, the practice that the captain decides the shirts and the rest adhere to it, The building and leaving of Highbury, the first silverware, the first double, the great players, the season unbeaten, the great moments... isn't it.. Mmmm boys in the park.. isn't it.. just...

It's the history success and expectation that makes those players pull on that shirt and get their names in the history books, they are nothing untill they have matched what has gone past.

We can't match Citys and Chelseas huge spending and massive wages, we have to do it the old fashioned way and hope the financial inviability of it all will pay off and the big spenders will be joining Newcastle and Leeds ;)

We can't match Citys and Chelseas huge spending and massive wages these days, so we'll drone on about history instead. we have to do it the old fashioned way and hope the financial inviability of it all will pay off and the big spenders will be joining Newcastle and Leeds ;)

You neglect to mention the film The Arsenal Stadium Mystery - presumably the mystery is to why the crowd is so fucking quiet.

  • You neglect to mention the film The Arsenal Stadium Mystery - presumably the mystery is to why the crowd is so fucking quiet.

It's just badly designed with little or no atmosphere because they've not won anything for a while and keep bleating on about the glory days of old!

  • And being in transition... pukes on Chelsea boxer shorts

that's right. history means not having to follow your team in the shit times.

    :P

  • Biggest load of bullshit I've read in a very long time.

Think it needs a timescale to put in perspective... maybe pad it out a little, sprinkle of drama? few well chosen examples?
It's tough as there is so much to pick up on.. what do you leave out???

  • So the Arsenal hood-rats don't pull on the shirt because of the money? Why do you work - for the sheer love of it, for the history of your company, the expectation etc etc?! Does your boss pick your shirt? What a crock of shit!

    Jesus fucking Christ.

And what makes it worse is that you believe it.

What a shame. Sorry, what a sham!
