R.I.P. Morosini. Tragic news.
+1. So sad for his family, for Italy, and for football. Somehow, results just don't seem to matter now.
It makes one appreciate Fabrice Muamba's situation even more, and the luck he had that a consultant cardiologist (Andrew Deaner) was able to attend to him, having come straight from the stands onto the field.

Interesting article but one which may offend Corney.
Barcelona's debt:

Not sure who to support tonight. If Chelsea win, the cup is as good as ours although the final will be a lot duller with their turgid brand of football. I don't fancy Tottenham as they play a far more attacking style. Though the final will be a better game.
I think Tottenham will do it tonight 3-1

Barcelona's debt:
It's not necessarily a problem to have lots of debt, as long as you can service it from revenue (Arsenal took on a lot of debt to build the Emirates), but from this short article it seems that Barca's debt is unsound.
I'd be interested to see what Swiss Ramble makes of that. It's not a big secret that Real have been handed hundreds of millions of Euros by the Spanish state over the last decade or so (most notably when they 'sold' their training facilities at a grossly inflated price).

Ok, so Swiss Ramble had this story 2 years ago.
http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/2010/08/whats-happening-with-barcelonas.html
Summed up in one sentence:
So are Barcelona going bankrupt? No way, José.

It seems that the banks, which are being bolstered by the state which is being bolstered in turn by Eurozone and EU assistance, are unwilling to be tough on a club that cannot possibly service the debt.
Why is this any worse than a rich owner pumping investment into a club?
Barcelona are living above their means. They cheat on the pitch, UEFA cheat on their behalf and their finances are very irregular.
There is another story about a 70 million euro hole in their accounts.
Corney and his gang of trolls will critisise Chelsea, Man City, Man United or Arsenal for their funding yet wax lyrical about Barcelona. How beautiful are Barcelona when it is alll based on fraud and subterfuge?
If Barcelona were a cycling team they would be doping.

Clive, Barca will not go bankrupt for several reasons. One of them is that they have close to 170,000 paid up socios. If the banks were to get tough on Barcelona they'd risk alienating their customer base.
The Qatar foundation deal will help the club to service their debts, it will however not eradicate their debt completely. The youth set up is also self sufficient and players not good enough for the first team get sold on for decent money (Bojan Krikic is a good example).
There is tons of articles written about the debts of Real Madrid and Barcelona but the main difference is that fascists get money from the local government and Barcelona get it from the banks.

Very interesting video from 1981 semi final at Hillsborough.
It explains why the FA is so ashamed of what happened in 1989 and why they will bend over backwards.
After what happened in 1981, it was all too clear that no major game should have been held at Hillsborough. The FA went ahead because of the money. The FA are bastards. Up there with UEFA and FIFA.

none of the big clubs will go bust as long as they remain fashionable. Football has a habit of going in cycles just like everything else in economics. In 10 yrs time if nobody wants to invest anymore then all the big clubs could be in serious trouble. Good news for Arsenal. they might win a trophy if they can just hold on for a couple of decades

Clive, read the Swiss Ramble blog, and you'll see that Barcelona's debt is by no means unserviceable.
I want to agree with you (apart from the bit about Corny being a troll - nice piece of reverse trolling, albeit not very subtle), but not only is this story 2 years old, but its conclusion appears to be wrong.

I was talking to a mate last night in the pub. He is a season ticket holder with a London Club.
He said exactly what Cliveo said, and he predicts aggro at the game tonight.
His comments were based on 2 facts. That he has been around football for a long time, and the actual time of the match.
Why the fuck, would you play the game at 6pm, when half the fans have been on the piss all day ???
Simple logic, from a smart man... let's hope his prediction does not end in death.

The Police insist that London league derbies are early kick offs. We usually play at 12:45 or thereabouts. Why on earth they think that having 30,000 Tottenham fans on the piss all day and then descending on 30,000 peaceable Chelsea supporters on their way to the match with their wives and kids is a good idea, heavens only knows.
Sadly the police have not learnt many lessons.

One man with his arm in a contorted position does not make a fascist mob.
No, for a fascist mob, you need to go to Upton Park:
