Errr. One of the enduring problems of the French state, is that the French regions aren't enamoured of Paris, and its historically centralising instincts. It wasn't so long ago that the Bretons were agitating very seriously for seccession.
There would also be many in the North of France who have a low opinion of the work ethic, indeed, ethics in general of the people of the South, whatever the truth of the matter.
I'm not saying it's as extreme as Italy or Spain, but it's definitely there.
I'm agreeing with you Bill, could probably have worded it better. There's also the small matter of the Corsicans and their fight for independence by the FLNC.
All I was saying is that it's hard to find another country that's as disjointed as Spain and Italy by the North and South divide.

East London's full of Northerners who read about Shoreditch in Vice 5 years ago and have just saved up enough money selling Hovis and mining coal to get the train down.
Add home county twats from Berkshire and Oxfordshire who have just graduated with a 2:1 in some poncy BA and you are about spot on

No arguments about that here, but the original statement was that other European countries aren't divided in the same way as Italy, where the history of Europe in the early 20th C is of culturally diverse regions being united by force into homogenous 'nations', with a recoil in the late 20th against the homogenisation.
Did I mention the cultural divide between 'mainland' Denmark & Copenhagen?

Hateful, as in I hate them.
Sorry to be semantic. The word you are seeking is detestable or, at a stretch, hateable.
Hateful means something quite different. It means, surprisingly, full of hate. The hateful party is the active party in the hating experience. You were seeking a word that rendered the object of your passion passive.

I have no feelings whatsoever about Birmingham City...
Biggest meh club in history, the only reason to hate them would be if you're unlucky enough to be born somewhere else in the Midlands or support Villa, thank God I belong to neither of these two groups.
