That, my friend, was your big chance to pour scorn on my pessimism and shout me down as a doubting Thomas. You could have been the fan who dared to believe in the face of inauspicious statistics. But you didn't, and now we both look like a pair of eejits. :-P
I saw it with my own eyes and I still cannae believe it - an away win in Europe.
Pfft. I for one have always had absolute faith in the European pedigree of Georgios Samaras and Massimo Donati :/

If there's one thing which shows how poor Scottish football is, it's that players like Samaras do OK up there. Fair play to Celtic yesterday mind. We'll see 'em on Saturday.

You must be doubly worried about a defence that leaks three goals against the likes of Nacho Novo and Kenny Miller, in that case. I mean, I know it's only pre-season, but still...:D
-
• #4007
Did the defence even show up?
-
• #4008
Samaras is distinctly average, even up here. He gets a game because we've not got an embarrassment of riches when it comes to strikers. When Scott Brown - the world's most goal-shy midfielder - is playing up front, you know you've got problems.
I'm grateful to big George for the timely goal, but it'd be a surprise if he scores another before the end of August. :-)

Oh aye - Our defence is a shambles, I watched the game v Rangers and our Midfield and forwards were excellent, Rangers looked like they might score every time they got near our penalty area.

Fair enough, he was dreadful at City, which made everyone wonder what the fuck Pearce was doing spending £6m we couldn't afford on him. How times change :)

Rumours are that Lucas may be about to fuck off back to Brazil. If he does its the best bit of transfer news for us since we signed Torres. Useless

unless we swap him for the (guardian rumoured) bag of shit that is nicky butt...

Arsenal play Celtic in the Champions League third qualifying round. Got to be happy with that.

Celtic can up their game when they play English clubs, and have done well in europ the last few years. That one is not all over by any means.

Celtic under Mowbray are a very different proposition than Celtic under Strachan. Given how Arsenal gave Rangers a football lesson last weekend, I'm sure that they'll do something similar against Celtic.

Lescott's still with us apparently :-$
Check this arrogant, Mancy, Welsh cunt:
Hughes says: "I could have lifted up the phone and asked David if he would sell his centre-half and he would have said no, so where do you go from that point? What we try to do is go to those who can conclude a deal around the table and they have been reluctant to do that.
Until we get the opportunity to get around the table and possibly discuss the deal, we don’t know if it is something that will happen. At the moment it looks like Everton don’t particularly want to come to the table and we have to respect that. We have not had the opportunity to speak to the powers that be. We have put two bids in and maybe there is room to go back in. If they are talking about £30m it’s difficult to speak about. We don’t know if we are going to get the opportunities to speak on those terms."
Classless cunts!

It would be pretty amusing if Arsenal failed to get past Celtic.

Who the fuck does he think he is? He's making it sound like the fact City have money gives them a divine right to sign whoever they choose, and we are not playing fair by refusing to sell.
Why would someone(Moyes) who has clearly stated 3 or 4 times that he doesn't want to, not that he doesn't have to, but that he is NOT GOING TO SELL anyone want to come to any table that would involve talking about selling someone
He really doesn't seem to have any idea of how to conduct himself.

Sorry, I don't really understand this point – are you saying Strachan would have had a greater chance against Arsenal? If so, I dunno about that. Mowbray's just done something that Strachan never managed, for one thing – an away win in Europe.
Of the big four in England, despite the fact that Arsenal can play some brilliant football, I'd always rather face them than any of the others. They're a bit flaky, let's face it, and Celtic have an really decent home record in european ties. We'll try to play football and score some goals, and end up outclassed, I imagine. Which is not something you can usually level at Rangers.

Just about to watch West Brom v Newcastle. Hoping for a massacre here, as a Midlander, and as a hater of Newcastle Utd. Not only that, but it'd serve them right for putting business ahead of football. A bit more debt and they could be the new Leeds.
Only decent thing to come out of Man City(other than Hinchcliffe) was Paul Power
Ace player, even when we signed him at 33yo(I think), he played a big part in us winning the league in '87
