  • There's a great blog on Football 365 that attempts to throw all of Pisti's Plastic melt arguments out of the window.

It's balanced, and well written. I would even go so far as to say it should be teh nu rulez

    A nice extract:

Lots of clubs, especially in the lower divisions, have great links to their immediate communities, but is that the only way it should be? It strikes me that supporting one's local team is about manifesting one's local identity, but there are many other identities that can be manifested by following a football team. It might be through wanting to retain family links and thereby identifying oneself as a son or daughter. It might be through national identity that a South Korean supporter initially started following Wolves. It might be racial identity or it might just be wanting to identify with flair and exuberance.

Whatever it is, football ceased to be a local game for local people a long time ago. You might support your local team, but who really cares?

  • When Chelsea were doing really badly in the late 1970s and early 1980s, we used to take great pride in the fact that a couple of coaches would come over from Belgium for every home game and that when we travelled to Carlisle, there were numerous Geordie Chelsea supporters at the game.

Teh rulez are rather silly and do not reflect history nor reality.

  • and he's won the league that you're about to be in.

    HA!
    Cunt.

  • 'Everton ace Jack Rodwell has confirmed that he is set for up to six weeks on the sidelines'

puts hot knitting needle down urethra

Oh FFS! Now Saha out for 4-6 weeks too!

    :-(

  • Oh FFS! Now Saha out for 4-6 weeks too!

    :-(

    Massive pea roast

  • Where!?

  • Every 5-6 six weeks Saha does something that puts him out for another 5-6 weeks. That's defined his career since he left Fulham.

    Hence the massive pea roast.

  • Ahhh, I see your thinking

  • Quite gutted actually, finally hitting a bit of form, 8 goals in 7 games and now this

    Oh well, there's still Beckford

  • Good for the "Beckford Bet"

    *giggles

  • Are you getting ready for life in the fizzy pop league Pisti?

    A nice extract:

I have a mate from the midlands with no scottish ties who supports calledonian thistle, I wonder what that says about him.

  • Mental illness

  • Thats what I was thinking.

  • didn't they win the european cup while he was at an impressionable age

  • Newcastle sign Shefki Kuqi great to see such ambition from a club, terrible signing.

He did a great job for Derby earlier in the season. Worked well as a creater rather than a scorer. Looks like they are planning for being back in the Championship.

  • Newcastle have no choice as the transfer window is shut. They'll stay up and then we'll see if they spend any of the Carroll cash they robbed off of Liverpool.

They could have chosen not to sign him. Newcastle's take-away and cafe owners must be delighted.

My mother, who lives in Poole, supports Ross County. She confided this to me and admitted that she had no idea where they played nor had she ever been to Scotland. I then arranged for her to fly to Scotland with my fgather, stay at a B&B in Dinbgwall and go to the game. The club, when they heard the story, gave them executive seats and didn't charge me for them. The story was written up in the programme.

My mum don't follow no rulez.

  • shefki kuqi seems like a bit of a diver to me
wasn't he the bloke that couldn't get into the west ham team

    Poole? Is that near Barnet?

  • Probably.

  • Shefqi's been in the prem already with Blackburn. He's all elbows and fight.
    I miss him.

  • in the greater scheme of things everywhere is near to barnet

He was with us too. A inspired choice from Sanchez.
