  • Four what?

  • How about Forest? Or Villa?

Seriously, how do you judge a giant? List and breadth of honours, average attendance, income? Based over what time span?

I was having this discussion with my brother the other day. As usual we ended up shouting at eachother. Its very difficult to say really.

Forest for definite were giants, but are obviously no longer. He argued that Liverpool cannot rightly be called giants now as they have not won the league is 19 years. he had a point.

Its like Newcastle, they consider themselves a big club. But really what are they? A club in a big city, with a big stadium. Does not make them a big club. Leeds for example, are a far bigger club, and look at them.

I just love the fact that for all the money Chelsea spent, they can not but the European cup. Whereas the Liverpool team which won it in 2005 was half populated by donkies. That says something to me

  • Four-king cunts..

  • Everton are a giant. Been in the top flight of football longer than any other team, over 100yrs

  • Are you a complete cunt? It's the biggest club competition in the fucking world!?! Of course players are gonna make a fuss if they think decisions haven't gone their way... Football is about passion and not throwing the towel in when your team gets knocked out of a competition/drops a point in the Prem like most of the fake Kopites™ on here... Shit ref last night but we should've conceded a coupla goals at Barca, so in the end I can't really complain about the result... Still fucking hurts tho'... Just wanna see Barca rip those dirty Manc cunts a new asshole now...

there's a point where you protest to the ref, and then go overboard... i may have been unduely harsh, but the number of times you guys have lucked out in ref decisions, and divebra went way over board. just my 2 cents

  • Everton are a giant. Been in the top flight of football longer than any other team, over 100yrs

Bullshit. Relegated in 1930-31 season if memory serves.

Arsenal are the longest serving top flight club, been there since 1913.

  • Pissed footballer in leaving night club in a state shocker. It's not news.

  • Brilliant pic tho'... :]

  • Lovely pants.

  • A giant is a team that has had the following players (you need to have had all of them to be great). Gazza, Hodle, Ozzie, Sheringham, Keane, Klinsman, King, Defoe, Lineker. I can only think of one team that has had all these players at one time or another.

You missed out Rosenthal, Sinton, Armstrong and Edinburgh.

    Wrong

Everton have been in the top flight for the longest, over 100yrs. Not consecutive mind....

We were relegated for a season in 29/30 but cam up a season later in 30/31. Also relegated for a season in the mid 50's. Other than that hav been at the top for over 100yrs

  • I was making the consecutive point, not the longest number of seasons in the top flight point. We'll split the difference. :-)

  • Utd have asked UEFA to overturn Fletchers red card on 'compassionate grounds'

Get to fuck you cunts! Asking to change the rules and favour the G14

Like Liverpool being allowed back in to the CL after they finished 5th.....UEFA'll probably buckle

  • I think this shows that you need a bit of class and only the truly great clubs win the greatest trophy of all. Chelsea will never win this and the more they try the harder it gets. Think I will say the same for Arsenal too.

The true giants of English football are Liverpool and unfortunately, Man Utd.

Sits back and awaits the inevitable flaming

i would say that losing in a final and and semi final would put them in the small handful of clubs that have a chance of winning it. yes you need a bit of luck but it's the ability and strength of the squad that gets you to the final.

i can't see the classy Everton FC getting to the final in the coming years

  • swings and roundabout, for me, hiddink taking off the injured/not injured drogba and putting on belletti told you everything you needed to know.
Barca had to play the last what half an hour with ten men, and still dominated possession, still passed the ball around chelsea, and still were committed to attacking. Chelsea decided to shut up shop, now even I know you can't sit on a one nil, especially when if the opposition scores an away goal, its game over.
All the whining and bitching is to be expected, yes the referee could have been better, but how to make them better, you don't see the big clubs putting money into a pot to train referees, get more ex footballers into the game as referees, create a transparent and accountable body which would train/promote/encourage referees and the role they have in the game. No they just slag them off and people start the call for video replays.

Chelsea lost, some decisions went against them, but equally decisions went against Barca, but that happens all the time in football, man up and get over it. Barca were the team that wanted to play football over the two legs, and they won through. If Chelsea had been more progressive during the two matches, maybe they wouldn't have had to worry about a disputed penalty call.

And the whole drogba live on air, fucking disgrace thing, sky should just shove stuff on a five/ten second delay and bleep it out, rather than prostrating themselves in front of the lightweights who wil get offended by strong language, and apologising like the weak willed pansies that they are, if they weren't so blinded by trying to be in the heart of the action and all that other codswallop, they would be aware that footballers and fans swear like troopers and are as excitable as seven year olds at christmas, so effing and blinding will take place, and best to bleep it out beforehand than apologise after the fact...

  • Ever the voice of reason Corny amongst some of us 'Hot heads'

I myself have been known to see red at times so I can completely understand where Drogba was coming from. But he did overstep the line though and he will probably be punished for that

    +1

How much would video replays slow down the game! Wenger would want one for every decision, ashley cole would always be trying to check himself out...

  • Surprise, surprise. The ref from last night has had death threats already. reminds me of another ref who had death threats against him and subsequently retired. Again against the injustice of not giving Chelsea the decisions they wanted.

  • God I hope it's Barca, at least then I can watch the bloody final. Without having a choice resembling having my eyeballs gauged out with a rusty knife or having my knob chopped off!

How dull. Got to feel sorry for that lad Fletcher though. Right. God I hate Ronaldo so much. Pray hes off at the end of the season. I am not bitter

He a total fucking cunt. With a drop of integrity I may show a little respect for his skillz- same goes for Drogba.

And to all Chelsea whingers just remember the last time you played Barça a couple of years back and Valdez was thrown to the ground where you promptly scored.

  • You would be howling like a wolf if it was Liverpool. Those decisions were outrageous and the fact that there were several make a mockery of the game.

  • I love it when Sky roll out all these ex Chelsea players to talk about them. The last 2 days they've had 'legends'.........

    Eddie Newton
    Jason Cundy
    Tony Cascarino
    Scott Minto

    :-$

For the FA Cup, we're bringing out Stuart Barlow, Brett Angel, Mark Ward and Richard Wright

It'll take some doing to get Wardy on, unless they tag him or summat.

  • It'll take some doing to get Wardy on, unless they tag him or summat.

True...the smack dealing cunt. Didn't he play for your mob at one stage too?

  • Aye - Kendall signed him in some sort of PX involving Hinchcliffe and Adrian fucking Heath.

    We wuz robbed.

  • Too right you were, he was shite! Hinchcliffe on the other hand was ace
