  • Why do we want the world cup? Can someone answer me that?

  • We won the World Cup in 1966. The only chance of winning it again in my life time was 2018 and now we've blown it. I'll be 82 in 2030 and may be dead.

  • That's a pretty bleak outlook you have there Mr O.

  • Why do we want the world cup? Can someone answer me that?

We invented football, FIFA should offer it to us out of gratitude.

  • Sepp says China did

  • Sure they were from Dirty Leeds but there's not much difference is there?

There is very little difference between anywhere North of Barnet and anywhere else North of Barnet

  • Mike - correct.

    [where the f*** is Barnet?]

you have the small consolation of knowing that sepp blatter will almost certainly be dead by then

  • Sepp says China did

Sepp will say Qatar and Russia did provided they pay him enough

  • [where the f*** is my Barnet?]

    going going gone

  • Sepp says China did

As Clive has already pointed out. Sepp will say whatever you pay him to say.

The bastard will probably bung St Peter and be in heaven. At least I will be spared sharing eternity with him.

  • Mike - correct.

    [where the f*** is Barnet?]

Further North than North Finchley which is my Northern boundary, but not as far as Luton

  • Sepp says China did

So it's Chinas fault now is it. They do get blamed for quite a bit nowadays.
Personally I blame that bloke from wikileaks

  • That's a pretty bleak outlook you have there Mr O.

I'll give you a bleak outlook.... I'm 28 which gives me roughly 15 (including Russia/Qatar) world cups for England to try and win. They are held in europe once every 8 years. Only once has a european team won the world cup outside of europe. That gives me about 7 england attempts. It's not going to happen, is it?

  • The BBC said we wont be eligible until at least 2030, by which time I will be almost 60. I dread to think how old Clive will be by then

  • 82.

At least I remember the 1966 one :o))

  • Maths fail

    72.

    There is still hope.

If you'd asked me twenty years ago what chance the British Cycling team had of ever dominating track racing I'd have said not a hope in hell.

So England winning the World Cup is not beyond the realms of possibility, but, and it's a big but, it would have to see a seismic change in how football is run in this country to happen.

    A sign of old age...
    :)

  • and, curiously, the success of cycling and other sports is likely to diminish the prospects of an improvement of Engurland's fortunes in football.

Is Sir Chris Hoy gong to take up football?

Who would've thought that we could send 17 men over to Australia and have them come back with a tiny cup of Ash in our lifetimes.

  • When I'm 72 I might even be retired and will be able to watch every match on my 3d surroundsound orgasmatron.

    Now I'm excited.

  • 3D will be well over by then.

I've got an invention up my sleave that means everyone will be able to get a world cup experience regardless of where it is.

This could be a good thing, as I hear Russian Visas are pretty tricky to come by.

  • Clive, by the time you're 72, stem cell research may be advanced enough to regenerate your body. You could be playing for England.
