  • This happened to lots of teams this weekend.

  • Any coincidence they fall apart the same weekend that Ray Wilkins leaves? Would they have played Ferreira centre-back for example?

  • Gutted I turned down tickets to Stamford Bridge now, didn't think it was worth it after last season, but that would have been a lot of fun.

  • I bet Clive has a face like a smacked arse right now.

Him and Pisti both, in FACT!

    As opposed to?

  • Ooff. Kick a man when he's down, eh?

  • Best time to do it, as the man himself has regularly demonstrated

  • shame that couldn't be an away result, losing at home takes some getting used to.
still top though so you can all suck cliveo's balls
    :-)

  • I saw Chelsea lose a league game to Shrewsbury Town about 30 years ago. That was an atrocious performance and humiliating. We came back. We will do again.

  • I love hearing Clive when Chelsea lose. He's always so defiant.

  • Or did I mean deviant?

  • a defiant deviant??

poor result today, but nothing to do with butch leaving, just a poor day at the office. fair play to sunderland they kept hustling and got the points. as cliveo said Chelsea will bounce back

When were Shrewsbury Town in the top division?

  • Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!

    .
    :)

  • When were Shrewsbury Town in the top division?

They weren't. Unlike you, I have followed my team in the second division. True supporters do, don't you know ;o)

  • Clive - I'd have to be 91 years old to have seen my team in a lower division.

  • Glory hunter ;o)

  • Yesterday was such a massive fail on the footie front, was great to watch the game with Corny, jonny and BDW tho'... Deffo one for the neutral... :S
And nice to see Kakuta come on, that lad has a great touch...

  • glad we got the win over blackburn, and a good one at that, but a tough couple of games coming up,
arsenal away, liverpool at home, birmingham away and chelsea at home, not to mention werder bremen at home and fc twente away in the champions league, and we need to make sure we play at the right tempo and have a go, rather than packing the midfield and leaving crouch as a lone striker.

Pavluychenko looks lively, even though he's missing chances, wondering when defoe is fully fit, could give us that sharp edge up front. Still think 'Arry's going to have to go out and get a top flight striker to push us over the top. But the question the becomes how long it takes them to settle in the premiership.

Sunderland were all over Chelsea, shows how thin their squad really is, without terry, alex, and essien. They were overrun, and the only worry was that Sunderland would let them back into it like Villa did to United.

  • I wouldn't let 'arry anywhere near anyone available in January.
Quick straw poll: (almost certainly asked this before)
How many "established" world class strikers have come to the EPL and flourished and, crucially, remained in their national teams/winning things/world class?

    There's not many is there?

  • the only worry was that Sunderland would let them back into it like Villa did to United.

    The kids tired...
if it wasn't for all our injuries we'd be in a champions league spot.

  • Ru I've never been a great big fan of Houllier's think he's abit too defensive, and never seems to trust truly creative players, and he's a bit like benitez in that he seems to want to control players a bit too much rather than just letting them get on with it.
But Villa look a better side, he's giving the young players their freedom and letting them get on with it, and they are looking awfully good going forward, really sharp, quick and incisive..

@ damo, world class strikers that come to the premiership in their prime, and do well, van nistelrooy, bergkamp, henry (converted winger), Anelka?? Torres, Tevez, Berbatov, drogba, hasselbaink, van hooijdonk, amokachi, kanu, tore andre flo??

    Pisti?

  • It's a specific question, badly worded I'll give you that. Are there any players that have come to the prem from successful careers in Serie A or La Liga, over 26, that have done well?

Which in turn means, what world class players are going to be available in January to buy and that will be an instant hit/capable of making a positive difference?

  • I have no idea damo, as you said the list is hella short.
I'd like us to put in interest for luis fabiano, still feel we should have put in a bid for van huntelaar, and we should be sniffing around real madrid again as I think benzema will be available and possibly lassana diarra.
but no your right there aren't that many, but its only a recent event that the premiership has the money and the clout to go out and get those kinds of players, which is becoming even more lopsided now that city have all that oil money..
