  • Fans need to reset their expectations. there will be the same disappointment and the following outpouring of regret and consternation in 2, 4, 6 and 8 years time as the team gets shown up because of its lack of skills and propensity to give the ball away or go backwards.

England has more in common with Hungary and Uruguay than Spain, France, Italy and Germany.
They (HU & UG) have an illustrious world cup history but will never win a world cup again, perhaps they should be asked how they manage their disappointment and expectations.

  • Lot of decent managers haven't been able to look good at Chelsea

  • In terms of individual players, England are clearly as good as those other nations.
Eg. England have the current players of the season in the English and Spanish leagues and the top scorer in the Bundesliga.

  • This was the first Euros I haven't watched a single game and it feels good. Sounds like Eng got to a final and were lucky to be there.

People can stop singing that song meant for the World Cup now.

  • I think England need a management change, the tactics this tournament were awful, most players didn't perform to their potential.
He'll go down in history as a success but in reality last 3 tournament the luck of the draw and run in has been unbelievably favourable.

  • It was written for Euro ‘96

  • Indeed, the obvious point being 30 is not a multiple of 4.

This should be shown in all academies, how to lose momentum and ultimately a game of football...very much the English way.

  • But it's about the Jules Rimet which is the world cup innit? They couldn't even get that right eh.

  • This is the exact moment I describe here: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/17455464/

Spain totally took back control from that point onwards.

  • My view from North Britain would be that the English squad aren't all that great as soccer players... The best premiershits are all foreigns.

  • Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe will be one of the leading candidates to become England manager if current boss Gareth Southgate steps down. Former England midfielders Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard are also possible contenders.

Surely even the FA aren't this stupid?

    Actually, don't answer that.

  • Maybe this is a final chance to make a Gerrard/Lampard pairing work.

  • Gerrard and Lampard to do it as job share. Its coming home

  • Surely Potter/Southgate = tactics/emotions is the dream team

  • Potter is the obvious English choice, God help us. I've been thinking for a while that Klopp would be amazing, the perfect job for a semi-retired fella.

  • Amy Whitehouse foresaw this very possibility, and provided us with the correct answer:' No, no, no!'

  • Barney R. also reached this conclusion.

  • I must have him on ignore, didn't see his/her post.🙃

I think I saw a YouTube thumbnail mentioning him in relation to the job today. Es kommt nach Hause? Maybe?

  • Southgate out...

  • Go on, who would you get in?

  • If Southgate walks away Ingerlund will be so fucked. I think he should, why should he stay? This tournament has been so toxic.

  • No - I meant he is actually out now.

I said before I'd keep him as a DoF vibes guy and have a tactics fella in. Carsley is playing nice football with the U21s, knows the squad etc - might be worth a go.

  • And he’s gone…
