Last time maybe. With TAA being the replacement for Henderson and not having any left sided players you could see things wouldn't be as balanced this time.
Still expecting us to see the QF and go out on penalties

I don’t want to get told off for armchair managing again, but the defence is fine. The midfield, however, is disjointed and borderline chaotic.

That’s a genuinely massively talented squad.
🤣🤣

He's picked 3 great young, high energy and high quality midfielders in the squad, then starts with a right-back.

high quality midfielders

England don't have a single midfielder who can play either as an old fashioned holding defensive midfielder, as a deep lying playmaker or as a connector. The problem being that all the best players in the Premiershit are foreigns.

We need Ian Wright up front. Probs from 1994, but right now he's probably at mobile as Harry Kane.

Your tactics don’t seem to be much more sophisticated than “just run around a bit!”

foden, bellingham and rice are three of the best midfielders in the world. england probably have the best squad in the tournament. OK it’s tournament football so it’s tough to win and anything can happen but they should probably be considered favourites / joint-favourites with france and germany. southgate saying they’ve struggled in midfield for years is frankly embarrassing

It never did Harry any harm.
But seriously, a mobile, spiky, centre forward, who likes pressing and isn't afraid to ruffle some feathers might not be a bad idea with Foden, Bellingham, Saka behind them.
Then maybe we can address the TAA as Philip BeckaLahm problem/question.
Along with Keiran Trippier. -

Yes, if he refuses to play Wharton or Mainoo despite having selected them, then play Rice sitting with Bellingham and Foden in front, then Gordon on the left

That'd get you an FA Pro Licence. We don't need none of that European head coaching theorising.

plus OK they’ve been a bit pedestrian in sections of both matches so far but they’ve got 4 points, are in prime position to qualify, and are muddling through without yet hitting their top gear. not sure why everyone’s going into meltdown. as a scotland fan, I’d swap positions in a heartbeat. our only good defender is now crocked, our other three defenders are total haddies, our midfield seem to have forgotten how to midfield and the less said about our forward line the better…

Wharton or Mainoo
I hate to think what the question is if those two are the answer.
-
• #169844
haha, they've barely found biting point.
-
• #169845
Foden in midfield isn’t the answer to the question when the main gripe with TAA is he cant defend in midfield

Also if I’m Dutch within 3 minutes Mbappe is taking a stray limb to the face.
-
• #169848
You don’t rate these players?
-
• #169849
I don’t recall who it was, but their point about England basically only having a right side avenue of attack was bang on. Southgate’s decision to take Luke Shaw as his only left footed full back looks more ridiculous by the game.

Bring back Nigel de Jong.
Yeah, but they need to put some of the defenders on the pitch too.
