[Keegan voice] I'd love it if it could be Croatia vs Morocco final.

• #163828
Yes, especially for that last free kick.
Edit: or Beckham, he was there afterall.

Easily done from behind the sofa.

Pepe a bit cross that Ronnie's stolen the ‘most loathsome Portugeezer’ title from him:

Kane summoning his inner Baggio. Great stuff.

That first penalty was about as textbook as it gets, second one not so much. France just about edged it. Giroud is a handsome bastard. Should’ve had two.

Fantastic to see Ziyech so happy. Morocco are really channeling Greece 2004 with a bit more style.

Given how many of the ‘big’ teams were already out, I think last night was Englands best chance to win another World Cup.
Here’s to another 60 yrs of coming home.

• #163835
Yeah, er never played in a World Cup quarter final with the hopes of a nation on the line.
I know what he tried to do. He failed. Life goes on.

It's great to see ziyech doing so well he hasn't been a star player bar a couple of moments but the work he has put in has been amazing.

Where would you have put the 2nd pen? For me that situation is perfect for the straight down the middle or if you have the nerve the panenka.

• #163838
Fuck it, off to Loftus Road for some real football today.

Commiserations. Toilet of a ground.

Finally paused the boycott and watched last night's game. Was beginning to worry about England winning a WC, even if it's one that doesn't count, massive relief to see them go. French defence is not one that deserves to even be in the latter stages of a WC, but still England didn't make many chances other than two of the most boneheaded and unnecessary penalties you could ever hope to see.

Hopefully Morocco can shut the door on France’s WC ambitions.
I will be with Mo and Co.. hopefully for a classic encounter however win or lose Morocco should be rightly proud of their football team

Finally got round to watching the 'The Phenomenon: Ronaldo' documentary about the original and best Brazilian version. It's on the Iplayer and if you haven't watched it, I can definitely recommend it. It was incredibly nostalgic and as someone who has suffered knee injuries disconcertingly familiar. There's no doubt that without injury we'd have been saved this whole Messi v Cristiano debate as original Ronaldo would have settled the GOAT argument for good. Pre injury he was unstoppable.

Soundly beat them. Couple of good goals too
-
• #163849
Yeah that Ronaldo was good, but was he as good as Robin Friday?
-
• #163850
Haha I just came here to post the same thing. Just finished it now and thought it was great. 1998 is the first world cup I really remember watching so the nostalgia was strong.
He's certainly a much more likeable Ronaldo too.
Bundesliga restarting 20 Jan, nice of them to let Jude Bellingham have a break til then
