For sure, it's not like they had a choice.
Sure, but I'm pretty sure that they could have limited the ownership of a club to a shorter period by their collective behaviour.

Man Utd would like a word...
-
• #160629
We've been trying that at United.
I'm torn, tbh, I don't like the look of the alternatives!
-

Btw, I'm 100% condemning the Chelsea fanbase as they have actively encouraged cash injections from Abramovich over the years but I genuinely don't think they would have been able to make him move the club on.

I mean, it's taken a government sanction on the back of an illegal war, so some wideboys were never going to manage it.

I'm sure we'll never know, but would be interesting to see what assets he's managed to get out of the UK in the last 2 weeks.
Looking forward to the giveaway of young talent in the summer. -

I feel like this was covered in the LOL part of my argument, but I can see how I could have expanded on my point a little
-
• #160634
Not difficult to imagine that it would be a lot given the notice period given to him by the Govt(!). I mean he was dissipating assets as soon as he wanted to pass on the 'stewardship'. Dodgy cunt.

• #160635
Lol. I make this quip as a Utd fan so I’m laughing but also crying a little inside.

Man city and Newcastle next please. I'm running with the theory that this time we shouldn't wait until maternity hospitals are blown up before saying no to cunts.

Weren’t we reliably informed that Abramovich was due beatification for his role as a peace maker? This all seems a bit harsh…
-

I understand the sentiments to Chelsea. Its a shame that genuine non arsehole fans will get punished beacuse of actions they had no control over.
But Chelsea as a club will continue on. One thing with Chelsea it's never dull. -
• #160640
Unless you're being sarcastic...
I think it's naïve to see Abramovich as some kind of mitigating factor or benevolent force in all of this.
-
• #160641
Those non arsehole fans who have campaigned since Abramovich took over? Oh wait...
-
• #160642
Jesus, just listened to someone from Chelsea Supporters Club or similar on 6 music news
Basically, Abramovich didn't start the war, Chelsea fans all love him, he loves the club, other fans are jealous.

• #160643
Remember, you are Chelsea & Chelsea is style.

• #160644
The word “beatification” should be a give-away

David Mellor speaking up against the treatment of his beloved Chelsea. I think he should remind us what he used to do whilst wearing his Chelsea kit.

Yeh fair. Look, I'm having one of those days. :-)

Yeh we're jealous that our clubs [owners] are not in Putin's pocket.

Not clicking on this in case it's Mellor getting up to what he used to in his Chelsea kit...
For sure, it's not like they had a choice.
Didn't have to sing his name for the last 20 years though, and boo during recent demonstrations of support for Ukraine.
Same goes for Newcastle fans. They couldn't stop the takeover but they didn't have to gather at St James' all wearing Keffiyeh
