Roberto Martinez being linked with the Barcelona job, which means following the trend IT'S ON, Allardyce to Barcelona once Martinez is dispensed with. Glorious.

• #159029
He’d do a better job than Koeman.

Not a given considering the shitshow that Barça is in today.

Ooof Derby. What a nightmare - feel for our resident Rams. Very different paths since the playoff final.
-
• #159033
Well, having had them both at Everton, I know who I'd rather have back. And it's not the guy that just stuck Gerard Pique up front.

Feel sorry for the fans, sure, but this is the owners / clubs doing.
I mostly feel sorry for the team who would have survived had Derby been docked accordingly last season.

Wycombe.

Yeah - for the fans deffo. Villa were days away from the same 3 years ago when our Chinese fraud couldn't pay the tax bill. Hope you find a set of decent new owners. Must be a bargain to be had for some billionaire...

At least we're not bottom of the table any more.
Not sure even Derby fans deserve this, but Morris definitely does. Did any of you watch the Al Jazeera documentary?

It's weird to think the club could go the way of Bury.
Who to follow with a vague emotional connection next? Burton Albion always struck me as a well run club.

Adios Hamez! Was good fun and a bit of piss take in equal measure.
Kind of bloke that’s great fun at a party but disappears as soon as it’s time to clean up all the shit.

Radio was saying that he never got to play a competitive game for Everton in front of a crowd.
-
• #159041
Yup. Peak Everton, that. A ballon d’or winner and we never actually saw him play.

We could still get another -9 points on top of today’s -12. Mel Morris doesn’t seem to want to take any of the blame for the situation and is finding excuses for being the worst owner in our history. Yes, worse than Maxwell…
I really hope that a couple of rumours about new potential owners ready to swoop in are true. If we’re still in admin by January then we’re completely fucked and doubt we’ll survive at all.
The Wycombe owner is looking to start a court case about how they got relegated due to ongoing court cases delaying any points deductions. But rich coming from a team that got promoted during a cancelled season when they were sitting in 8th place at the time the season stopped.
Now the Boro owner is also looking to sue us for something. EFL owners are the worst, bloodthirsty vampires who will do whatever dirty deeds it takes to get the prem cash money.

What we have learnt about owners of football clubs is that there is just about zero likelihood of an owner being ethically acceptable and a decent human being. Unless a club can achieve supporter ownership without the ludicrous populism of Barcelona, and that is realistically only possible with a club the size of Clapton Community FC (Vince at Clapton shows how widespread poor ownership can be). To compete in the top levels, the amount of money required and the risk entailed, requires an owner whose motivation is unlikely to be the well being of supporters. Some corrupt bastards are worse than others. Some are simply better at running football clubs. The worst situation is to get a rich bastard owner who is totally inept. You have my sympathy.

We conceded a goal from open play yesterday. Not a happy state of affairs. Mind you, Kepa was the only starter yesterday who also started on Sunday and we were playing a new system. Lots of positives. Kepa is good at penalty shootouts.

Was a cracking header that broke the duck too. 2nd half was a big improvement in the 1st but Timo still needs to be more clinical.
James can hit a great pen. -

Lol. For the second game we had much the best of it and got nothing. Chelsea may have made plenty of changes but they included bringing in Kante and Werner. Not to mention bringing on Mount and Lukaku. We had a bunch of teenagers playing.
Still - it's a lottery in penalties and Steer had a bit of a 'mare in goal. -

If you haven’t listened to his press conference today then it’s well worth a listen.
He’s been treated like shit by the owner, the fans weren’t behind him at the end of last season, he’s been stitched up in the tabloid rags and he still wants to fight for the survival of this club.
He has been paying for training stuff and away day transport and hotels for the team since the summer out of his own pocket.

Not the first time he's paid to play away from home.

Will be fascinating to see how Romelu and Timo get on together up front today... Come on, Chels! 💙
