  • You've never been to boundary park?

  • No. It's a much longer walk back to Shepherds Bush.

  • The covering defender was on his arse though so not sure how he'd have done anything.

  • Show me a club that isn't doing anything financially crazy.

Burnley were doing pretty well at this until we decided to go with a leveraged takeover to a group of Americans.

  • The coldest I've ever been at a match was at Craven Cottage. Feb 2012.

Minus 5 with a 20mph wind coming off the river.

That sounds rough. I've been really cold there once, but learnt my lesson. Organised a mate's stag do in probably feb or march of 2011 which started off watching a bit of footy in the neutral end of the cottage (vs Blackbun ended 3-2, the returning bobby zamora scored the winning penalty) anyways I made sure everyone knew to wrap up, but it wasn't too bad in the end. One bloke went to town and was in about 5 layers plus long johns, sweating buckets in the pub afterwards and had to change.

Conversely I watched us (Everton) win there for the first time in about 50-60 years in May of 2009. The weather was absolutley beautiful, glorius sunshine, perfect result. Met a few mates, drank a lot of guiness afterwards and dreamt about the FA cup final (we'll ignore the actual result.)

0-2 would definitely watch again. Probably my favourite away day, in fact.

  • The drunkest I've ever been was in hospitality there too. In the George Cohen suite, September '13. He was a bit racist about the upcoming Brazil WC and had to be shuffled out the room mid QA session.

Several rounds of beer before the game, then 2 inches of brandy into a hot chocolate for the terraces, a bottle of port (for two) post game and a few more pints in the players bar for good measure.

My BIL (who was my guest) was found by his now-wife, in his underwear, in their flat, pushing dark red vomit around the wooden floors with a sodden mop, sobbing slightly and apologising to her when she came back home later that evening.

    1-1. Would also not recommend.

  • I was going to ask exactly this. Coldest place on earth.

I started watching Macc Town a few seasons ago and that’s also a cold ground but not quite as exposed to the wind.

  • A couple of seasons ago, away at Southampton, freezing cold, pouring with rain, roof over the away end leaking, blizzards seemingly blowing in from the sea. Midweek/evening game, went straight from work, inappropriately dressed. Not my favourite experience, although two goals from Shinji Okazaki brought some joy.

  • I went in 1993/94 when we lost to Oldham in the cup.
Obviously over the nearly 30 years (weeps) it's become like Ice Station Zebra in my head.

  • one off his knee and another off his shoulder no doubt.

  • A rare brace with his feet (the second was a bit special) - from a couple of yards out, of course. Made Van Dijk look ordinary...

  • Just noticed that the eleven that finished the match for Burnley last night were all English players. I suspect it's been some considerable time since that last happened in the Premier League.

  • I expect a detailed report on the ratio of goals scored with head/foot vs other parts of the body...

  • 13 (Thirteen) minutes!?

  • i think there was about nine goals. most had an element of farce. but he was always quick and alert in the box. scored a few headers and a couple of decent volleys, including the one at Southampton.

his goals were nowhere near as lucky as I recall. he was a hectic player though. great smiles when he scores. think the whole team genuinely loved him scoring.

  • they flew by!

good result for the Leicester tonight.

    Well done City.

now lets watch the scramble for the rest of the CL places.

  • i think there was about nine goals.

14 in the Premier League (and not the cups or Europe) according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinji_Okazaki#Club

  • sweet. so many of them were similar I lost count. headers from less than a yard out, stretched toe-ins, etc.

  • He was better than most give him credit for and an absolute joy to watch - didn't get many from outside the six yard box though

  • You based around there.

    Oldham = Ice Station Zebra.

  • I think Pittodrie might win as the coldest place to watch football particularly with an easterly wind

  • Never been there (but a friend has) but Canvey Island FC has to be up there (for a down saarf club). Not much between it and the cold end of the Thames Estuary.
