They missed the last part of the title...
"...if you're a money grabbing cunt"
I don't think anyone is denying that it makes sense for the owners who stand to make more money. That's not insightful at all.

I kind of disagree. I’d probably be more interested in seeing the champions of Spain, Italy, England, France, Portugal, Germany and the Netherlands face each other home and away and have a play off to settle it at the end, you could even call it the Champions League, but there’s no money in it for UEFA.

Taken as read if you're reading City AM, no?

Boris Johnson chiming in on the Super League is one step too far. Brexit was pretty much done for the exact same reason, pure greed and keeping the unwanted out.
-
• #156006
the whole concept of the super league as franchise is anti football. The whole relegation promotion is so ingrained in football to remove it kills the game

There's a worthwhile possible application of cgi if ever I saw it.

It's just going to be an exhibition and bent betting syndication to make billionaires that little bit richer while ensuring that poor people leave the house less. Totally on trend right now.

So have the clubs and the new league just slung out press releases and shut up shop? No-one at all willing to go in front of a camera?
-
• #156014
Yep. Looks that way
-
• #156015
I’m not a comms expert but this does not seem like a professional PR strategy to introduce seismic changes to world football.
-
• #156016
Maybe a PowerPoint slide or two would have helped?
-
• #156017
at least a few graphs and pie charts

Comms bod is former Theresa May press officer apparently. Fitting.
Possibly bollocks as it’s from TFTM but it’s a good listen.

Kevin Fernandes from Liverpool Supporters' Club Dubai, on Radio 4 just now, is a big fan of the European Super League proposals.

While he was stretched across an ever tightening rack in the bowels of a sheikh’s palace.
You can’t trust the opinion of anyone who thinks living in Dubai is good.

It just says it all.

• #156024
lol. Same can be said for Wycombe Wanderers

UEFA congress is happening right now so could be more fun sabre rattling going down.
Thomas Bach of the notoriously non-commercial IOC has just denounced treating sport as a business. LOL.
