That all depends on how long this goes on for. If there's no football for another 9 months then most clubs are going to be telling players they can't afford to pay them (whether they take a 90% pay cut let alone a 15% pay cut).
Players can try and point out the contractual obligations of the club but that's of little use if it gets to the point that the club goes under and they (the players) are left with no job, no income and no-one hiring because no-one else can pay.
If it can start up again in a month or so then FIFA/UEFA/FA/PL just have to do some jiggling around. We've got an extra month for football as Euro 2020 has already been postponed for a year. (But, realistically, there's going to be no chance football is going to be played in front of normal sized crowds within the next few months. Clubs, fans and TV, don't want to play games behind closed doors. I think the only people that do are the lawyers who are staring at the consequences of leagues/competitions not being finished.)

You’d have to let them leave or offer the option of an extension. Legally, there’s no alternative.
Surely they wouldn’t be able to play for new clubs before the end of the current season however.
-
• #153054
That will be true of all but the wealthiest clubs.
Plenty of League Two players weren’t getting paid before this because clubs live such a hand to mouth existence.

You can’t proceed with the league when kopites insist that they’ll never walk alone.
This is a time for walking alone, if that means no football until August than so be it.

Well I for one have always disagreed with all these people calling for the season to be voided but I’m starting to come round to that way of thinking.
If players want to leave in June, let them but don’t open the transfer window until the day after the last game of the season seems fair but not to players with contracts expiring in June who would like to stay. They could end up out of contract and without wages until when? September?

Why? The season can’t be finished. Null and void is the only fair conclusion.
This.
The current season can't be finished in the same format, so there is no point in trying to finish it in some other contrived format just to finagle out of the tv contract. That would forego all the governing bodies' precious 'integrity'.Games won't be home/away.
Different players will be available/unavailable.
Higher density of games favours teams with bigger squads.
That's before any of the changes to actual regulations being discussed. And before the liklihood of someone in one club testing positive and that club having to isolate. The only sensible option is to bin this season and work on plans for a new season where contingencies / rule changes can be built in from the start.

Why the fuck have they got Women in every team name. #everydaysexism

Fairest way is to combine the points totals of Mens and Womens teams, to decide both outcomes.

rumours of koubailly to liverpool growing
after spending nothing on transfers last summer we should have a bit of spare cash ( covid-19 aside )he and werner would be pretty great additions to the team, strength and depth galore
imagine gomez vvd and koubailly as a back three
-
• #153064
I doubt we'll go for Koulibaly given his age/likely price - the rumours are we'd part ex Lovren which would be good for all. Pre covid I was expecting big spending given how little we've spent in recent windows and how much income recent sucesses should have generated. Now though think Werner might be it - hope I'm wrong

Read that in Henning Wehns voice.
How would you deal with players out of contract and the transfer window?
