Fucking hell last night was horrific. The closest we came to scoring was a couple of lame attempts from 30 yards.
Horatio I fried an egg this morning which looked just like your avatar. Just sayin'.

Sweet, sting-ray egg. Should have taken a picture.

er fourteen winters. you missed the point of my arguement. those that have made it past the groups of the big cup.
liverpool, arsenal, chelsea and united have all done this.
the other teams in the epl do not meet this test.

• #13756
do we need to look at "foreigns"?
or have i made my point? -

Paper players win paper cups though.
England don't play like Utd, and don't play like Chelsea.
You've got to make a team, not a bunch of players on a pitch.
England seem to have lost that along the way and that's pretty sad...

• #13758
i agree. but if your selection point is "players who are experienced and play at the top level" our manager appears to be somewhat hamstrung.

Well it just so happens...

so. to restate the point.
england are shit. but. there's not a lot out there to make it better.but it's ok. the universe does not care. we are but dust in the wind. dust. in. the. wind.

Pretty much spot on. But you missed the bit about Horation having an egg lookalike.

I have huge issues with some of the selections at the moment.
Rooney, in fairness, doesn't deserve his slot, and is not working in this team. Heskey's not worth the typing.
DAVID JAMES!
Carragher is weak minded, and well off the pace. Get Dawson in.
Why Are we still playing with Sven's failed tactics after all these years?
Maclaren never had a fresh thought in his head, and Capello is bottling it!

ok:
name anotherenglish keeper that would be able to concentrate for 90 minutes. (James is not included in my selection). being a keeper that gets shots battered at them all game (hart, green, a nother) is not the same as being inactive and then suddenly having to do something. (see Ben Foster?)you're taking to just shouting at the selection, but in reality we should be shouting at the lack of available players of the requisite quality.
otherwise, we may have to accept that we'll be naming a lot more spurs and everton players in an england squad from now on. -

A few more level heads and a few less Nike and Pringles adverts might do the boys some good.
I am away that it was a Spurs player who took part in the Pringles advert.
Talk about living off of a robot dance goal celebration!
Shame he hasn't had a chance to make any celebrations yet. I heard he's been practicing his poppin'f moves for weeks!

• #13768
at least he's scored in a world cup game...
-
• #13769
I'm clearly not making my point obvious enough. There are not enough quality players out there for england to do better than quarter finalists.

Team for Slovenia should be
------------------James----------------------
Johnson----Dawson----Terry--------Cole
Gerrard----Lampard---Barry--------Cole
-------------Defoe----Crouch---------------I agree. At least the option of two strikers that can score goals (unlike Heskey), is a good thing; as well as the short+fast option that Defoe brings, mixed with the taller+hard-to-mark-for-headers option of Crouch, would be better than what we've had so far. I also feel that Defoe will be fouled and bring us penalties.
Crouch is shit.
Thats just inane. He scores goals for his club, and has an excellent goals-to-appearances ratio for his country.
In my opinion, two things are holding England back:
- Fear of Capello (who can produce their best work with their boss leaning over their shoulder?)
- Capello's Plan A (let Rooney at 'em), is also his Plans B, C and D.
- Fear of Capello (who can produce their best work with their boss leaning over their shoulder?)

We have stopped the rot since we disbanded the Lilleshall school of excellence - a move to copy France and Germany (cause it worked so well for them....)
The emphasis being on local teams running academies, sadly they didn't realise the cost of english footballers is driven by greed so its cheaper to get them from abroad. if it wasn't for West Ham we would have been fucked over at international level a long time ago.
We just don't have the players, there is no natural talent. Spain have too many players who can change a game by dictating the pace, we have rooney who works hard and Gerrard who can dive and punt it from 40 yds.. pretty sad

If crouch is world class then I should consider dusting off my boots.
-
• #13775
You'll need a tipper truck for THAT much dust.
Crouch is shit.
