"Liverpool 1, Everton 0"
What a complete 'Media obsessed by Liverpool' bell!

england have played far worse. I'd say, besides the freak incident, it's about on par for the team we have. I didn't expect a whole lot, which is what they delivered.
Capello is in a hole now. He stuck with Green to much, James isn't match fit and Hart is untested. Whatever he does, all opponents will take heart from our patchy defence
First group matches are always a bit dodge. If there wasn;t such a fuck up all would be forgotten if they reach the second round.

qualifiers are merely several games against shit small european countries. U.S.A. aren't much of a step up (no offence U.S.A. you did well) but because it is crunch time england bottle it.
I think we need to face the obvious, we are not that shit (although we certainly have a go a being shit) but teams like the USA are not the comedy teams they were from 10-20 years ago - in the world rankings (of 200 national teams) England are 8th and the USA are only a few places behind at 14th - by the way they press and public perception go you would think the US were down there with Belize or Tonga.
said it before and i'll say it again , we only play well against teams we've had a war against. shame iraq aren't in this. We still have time to pull this around but previous history says we won't. Gerrard looked like a captain in the first 45. heskey made some good lay offs, johnson was available but apart from that virtually no movement and that's the sign of a team that is nervous and individuals shirking responsibility. Anyone who plays football knows how easy it is to try and look busy while not going out of their way to do anything to try and win the game. I think capello noticed this mental problem when they gathered in austria a couple of weeks ago and it's finally dawned on him the enormity / impossibility of the task. If we win this he really is the best manager in the business
From my drunken standpoint (I had never even heard of a 'white sambuca' before the kick off?) it was a lot of Heskey and Gerrard, Rooney might as well have been in goal.

totally agree with tynan about usa and the quality. however if that were two clubs it would have been something akin to man city versus west brom. and man city would be disappointed if they drew against west brom. England just don't have what it takes mentally.
white sambuca? hitting it hard mate...suprised you can type. respect

I don't like to interfere with domestic disputes : P - all I mean is that USA v England is not the David v the Philistine giant match it was in the past - these monkeys play in the premiership now.
England didn't draw against a part time team of accountants, pedophiles and traffic wardens, the USA are - these days - a very very good team, we need to shake off the idea that they are a shit team.

Horrible shit, did my mouth in on Friday afternoon in a terrible terrible accident of my own stupidity (smashed teeth) that stuff was actually painful to drink, but when I got home from the game I self medicated with kronenberg.

I avoid domestic politics.
The bloke I write music with is a massive Everton fan (his granddad played with them many many years ago when they had 'brown balls') - we have had to literally wrap up a job half way through and unfinished and head to the pub to see Everton - I have sort of become a vicarious Everton fan by proxy.

To think I missed Dr Who for that.
Why did you do that? I watched both. Can provide a Dr Who catch-up if you can't be arsed with iplayer.
Oh, and can someone tell me what the point of SWP is?

Don't tell me that anyone was surprised by last night's result.
Pisti, this will cheer you up: "Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is to splash out £30m this summer, with Everton defender Phil Jagielka among his transfer targets" from the Daily Fail.

The USA's best player is Donovan. I had heard of this chap for sometime and wondered where he played. Imagine my surprise last night to discover that this great player is one and the same as the rather average Everton player of the same name. If that is there best, England really were tripe last night.
Let's hope we go out at the group stage. Then we can enjoy the rest of the football.

Fucking awful, seriously considering boycotting the rest of England's games... Painful to watch... Apols if I was a bit louder and more annoying than usual last night, hadn't really eaten all day so I was completely cunted... Also managed to lose my keys on the way home... :S

Typical, ignorant Chelsea fan. He was ace for us and I seem to remember him being in the same shitty Everton team that drew with AFC at the Emirates, and beat you cunts AND Utd at Goodison. Or was that another Landon Donovan?

He was also the thug who broke Ashley Cole's ankle.
Sorry perhaps not an average Everton player but a giant among midgets, but an average player nonetheless.

still nigel reckons that capello is england's best chance. and that wraps up the derby news. unless anyone is interested in kris commons and steve davis potentially getting better contracts if they stay injury free?
no? i'm shocked.

Yeah all these small time players really step up to the plate against England.
I see old Tourettes boy in goal was twitching and talking to himself most of the match. I was suprised to find out he too played for Everton. Last I heard he was at United -

Green's not fit to clean Howards boots. He'd fuckin drop them anyway!
Just necked the rest of those chips - quick 45sec blast in the microwave :-)
