I think @Markyboy has a bee in his bonnet as he doesn't believe Leicester were given enough credit in the run in, whilst everyone kept predicting that Spurs would chase them down. And/or that despite winning it this season, no one's giving them any chance for next season.
Things turn so quickly from the outside, one minute Spurs are the best team in the league, should win the league, look at the form table, now it's Spurs fucked it up, should have had second, look at the form table. So what are we good team, bad team? young team figuring it all out? Again its external voices saying we should do this, and/or that, and maybe some super hyped fans getting giddy that in league terms we are relevant again.
But I refer the football thread to many of my previous comments about taking this position at the beginning of the season, which I stand by, and pretty much all of the rest of your comments either building us up, and/or knocking us down can get in the sea.

You can't deny that you handed the gooners second place though.
I never believed that Spurs could chase down Leicester but papers have ad space to sell so they'll write whatever it takes.I'd like to see Pochettinos form table for his last 6 seasons and see how they match up with the teams final league positions as it appears its a reoccurring theme.
I wouldn't be surprised that you're going to end up with a crap season just like L'pool did the last couple of years.

looking forward to your insights into Chelsea's path back to relevancy and the quality of their 1-1 draw with the champions Leicester...
Or how it was all about John Terry.. -

Basically, Spurs couldn't cope when it got to what Ferguson called 'squeaky bum time'. All the experts in the media thought Leicester would falter when the pressure was on, but Ranieri showed what a wise manager he is by easing the tension in his squad. Spurs were doing well up until the pressure was really on, then they bottled it.
To be fair, at least they were in the final shake out, Arsenal bottled it in January.

It's all about next season, Corny.
You should know this by now.

We should have taken second, it was in our own hands, and you can't blame anyone else but yourselves when that happens. But we played well to get into that position in the first place, so all of that good feeling should be wiped away because Arsenal hung in there and we gifted them a second spot their play over the season didn't deserve.
We played a lot of games this season, and Pochettino seems like a manager who is learning season by season what he needs to do to prepare the team better, and making sure that the way he wants his team to play isn't compromised as the season wears on. So I'm assuming we'll be better next season, and won't be like liverpool, as we'll have more continuity of players, will be strengthening the squad where necessary with some astute buys, promoting the youth from within and giving them an opportunity to impress and increase the competition in the squad, and the first team will be more used to the rigors of attempting to keep going in the league whilst also playing european matches...
I could of course be wrong, but we won't know until the matches kick off in earnest. So far the Sheriff hasn't done anything to show that he won't be able to improve the team going forward so I'll keep maintaining that we'll be better rather than worse, under his stewardship..

Unless you are Arsenal then it is about this season come August.
I expect Liverpool have quite realistic expectations for next season. If we somehow make it into the CL by beating Sevilla then anything better than 8th is a bonus.
I think you'll be hard pushed to find any Liverpool fans who genuinely believe this next season nonsense.... -

It's more fun taking the piss out of you...
I have no idea what will be happening at CFC next season, nor do I waste my time waxing lyrical about what may or may not happen in some possible future or alternate footballing universe... It's bigtime football, my opinions are meaningless...
Predictions? We'll finish above the Spuds next season, how about that? #noonecarescorny

Despite the football threads meme like Liverpool focus, for every fan whose team hasn't won anything that season, it's all about next season.
Just like it is for you and Chelsea it's all about next season, new manager, new players, new expectations.

I'll answer my own questions:
Pochettinos close season reads :
13/14 8th last six games 8 points (Saints)
14/15 5th with 10 points from the last six games
15/16 3rd with 8 points from the last sixThe average of the last six games taken over three seasons would have given you 51 points which is midtable form and would indicate that you'll never win a trophy under Pochettino unless he adapts his tactics and coaching/coaches as you'll most likely will burn out once again at the end of the season.
Make of that what you will.
I like how he sets up his teams but don't think he's the one that's going to win you a PL title if that's the real ambition.

Pochettino will be a better manager after this, well when he gets away from WHL he will anyway.

in terms of whether Pochettino is the one to take us to the promised land, here's an article by Simon Burnton about Quique Sanchez Flores' sacking, and whether teams should be more proactive in trying to improve their manager situation, rather than be reactive and wait till it goes in the shitter before making a move.
The Sheriff has another couple of season's before this becomes a valid question for us, but it's still a dilemma for chairman/owner if you want your team to continually improve..

• #128172
For the most part I really like this squad; certainly the most likable team we've had in forever. Think Hodgson should have more than 3 centrehalves and drop a midfielder as our CMs are rather stacked.
My XI is something like Hart, Walker, Rose, Smalling, Cahill, Alli, Dier, Lallana, Sterling, Rooney, Kane

sherrif, pooch, poch, made up shitty nickname. your boys took one hell of a beating. etc. and so on.
-
• #128174
I read that and it only makes sense if they have a replacement lined up.
FWIW only once in the last 15 seasons has the PL winning team finished the season with less than 10 points from the last 18 which says it all.

Lallana, Sterling and Rooney!?! They've all been beyond shite this season.
On the subject of Verheijen http://www.football365.com/news/weird-fitness-bloke-criticises-liverpool-and-spurs
Your lot should have walked into second place but cocked things up spectacularly. Just look at the form table. With the Euros taking place plus CL to worry about than you'd think that @Markyboy isn't going to be far off the truth.
