Dalglish didn't revolutionise his nation's approach to football. Nor did he have a discernible style that his team's played as a manager, unless you count constipated football.
At the time he played for Liverpool they were the most successful club in Europe, hence why all you melts support them, despite most of you never venturing within 50 miles of Anfield. So the unfashionable argument bears no scrutiny.

I was responding to the managerial honours point, where you were broadly wrong, and also trolling.

Like Dennis Wise, that's an oxymoron.

@T-V @mikec please tell me what legacy Dalglish has left behind, serious question.
As for Cruijff being indebted to Michels, not quite, it was Johan that was pushing Michels to be more expensive. It was Cruijjf that wanted Jongbloed in goal.
I wouldn't call trophies a legacy (see Mourinho), what Dalglish did was be part of a well assembled team and than assembled one as a manager. He didn't restructure clubs from the bottom up and played a different way to anyone else. Credit where credit is due, the man has won trophies.
Cruijff had more talent and vision in his toenails than Dalglish ever did.
You don't build legacies on trophies, you build them on foundations to be as successful as you can be. English football isn't great at laying foundations, they much rather buy the finished product and get instant satisfaction, much like a drug addict.

Dalglish did well with Liverpool. Less so with Newcastle and Blackburn. It's really difficult for great players, and he was, to instruct. Apparently.Who knows how he'd have got on at Blackburn. Mr Walker decided to cut the purse strings and look where it got them (7th iirc). Who the fuck ends one year as champions and finishes 7th the next?!...

But I do agree Cruyff is in rarified air. Pep goes there. Frank R not quite. Shame he couldn't keep Ronaldinho [whom I rate as the greatest pure footballing genius I've ever seen] grounded as he would surely have been worth at least two more CL titles. Who can forget the standing ovation his hat-trick got at the Bernabeu?

Cruijff is up there because he was a genius as a coach and even more so as a player.
As good a coach Guardiola is he wasn't half the player Cruijff was I think.
Imagine if Zidane or eventually Messi goes on to coach and win 4 consecutive league titles and a CL plus a EL title than we'd have comparison.

Hoddle: "Cahill is almost like an attacking player when goes up for a corner"
Well you wouldn't want him helping the defenders on the other team, would you Glenn?

Played pretty well so far! Front three are giving them a real test

Think gomez's goal was onside, but the other German player stood in front of clyne, meant the linesmen saw only two German players offside.
Only seen the last fifteen mins of the half or so, but we've looked half decent without being super threatening.
And then kroos goes and beats butland at his near post. -

England's stand outs so far Ali,Lelana and Welbeck.

Great goal from Kane

Gomez with the header to make it two for Germany, after we'd looked threatening. Then Kane with the cruyff turn and the low finish into the corner.
Right back in it. It is amazing what a good finisher kane is! Lots of his strikes are into the corners/side netting.
Alli's been good as well, finding lots of dangerous space in front of the German defenders, and sent through some searching balls... -

Cruyff turn to make the opportunity, he took it really well.

Fuck me that was a great goal, lovely quick counter attack from England, nice interchange of passes to set clyne free and then vardy with the gorgeous back heel to beat neuer.
Know it's a friendly but we've played well to get back in this.
