In contrast to WHU and their stadium 500M free stadium (or whatever). York city have been waiting about 12 years for a stadium to be built. We've come close, having plans for a Stadium to be built alongside a John Lewis and M&S in a new out of town development some years ago. Due to some planning wrangles though, the shopping centers were built but not stadium.

Years later an alternative site was found, plans submitted, an old stadium is demolished and weeks before work is due to start the project manager quits after 7 years in the role and the council go all quiet.

It's pretty mental. I have no idea where the money comes from either. I went to watch a fair few games whilst living in China in Beijing and Dalian and the stadiums were rarely full except for local derby matches. Tickets were only a few quid too so the ming boggles as to where the money is really coming from. Only a few years ago Anelka and Drogba left Shanghai Shenhua after they weren't getting their 300,000 USD a week salary. I can see exactly the same thing happening again.

I'm pretty sure, betting scandals will inevitably happen in that league.

Kit Kat crescent deal was only for a couple of years, so we are still in the same ground it's just back to being called Bootham Crescent. It's pretty grim though, away fans were pissing on sandbags against a a wall until about 1995.

The 'peppercorn' Rent should be proportionate to give some ROI to the tax payers. If WHU generate £750k - £1M per home game it leaves them with almost £20m profit from the deal every year. That's a hardly a level playing field for other clubs who pay their own way.
