  • If a war isn't going to change their minds than what will. You'd think that a war would be described as a force majeure in a contract when doing these sort of deals...

  • I'm assuming they're only going for the concaf officials as they're the only ones they (us agents) have jurisdiction over?

  • If any of the bribe/laundering money goes through the US at any point I believe that gives them jurisdiction. IANAL.

  • It's hard to imagine them being taken from Russia / Qatar since they've started building, but I imagine there could be huge lawsuits anyway from the people that didn't win if they prove that bribery was involved.

  • Yup. Use a US bank account for dodgy purposes, and you get fucked!

In other news, City are in town. Guess playing baseball is almost as good as a CL final...

  • On a similar note, the Liverpool squad are in town. I guess 40 degree heat in a sandpit is almost as good as a CL or FA cup final...

  • ha!

  • I suspect a lot of the evidence is coming from Chuck Blazer and most of his dealings will have been with CONCAF.

  • They've come out to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Istanbul debacle and maybe to make sure that Stevie actually leaves.

  • I hope the pressure of blind optimism is currently building in mikec until he can do nothing but come back and spew it in the most shameful way on here.

  • Attorney general Lynch says "can't comment" on whether Nike are under investigation
Lynch said "bribery... extended to agreements regarding sponsorship of the Brazilian national soccer team by a major US sportswear company"

  • Heres the full US DoJ release

The guy who brokered Nike's sponsorship of CBF has agreed to pay $151m to DoJ

  • And UEFA has just said they might boycott the congress and called for election to be scrapped

  • I pity the poor buggers who'll have to listen to that whining drawl every day at breakfast.

  • adidas wishy washy and McDs maybe a bit more circumspect; they sponsors are the ones who will effect change once evidence starts popping up their money has been funding bribes.

  • how arrogant and stupid can you be to use the american banks, football is not top dog in the USA the powers that be dont give a fuck about soccer, whereas in europe the money generated holds a certain amount of power. fifa is riddled with corruption lets hope this is just the start of a bigger clear out

  • Cracking Europa league final going on 2-2 at half time ITV4

  • @dubtap winning the internets since 2008.
    Strong work!

  • I concur, shows how much the Europa league means to every other club apart from the English.
Plus Sevilla (if they win it, 3-2 currently) get to strut their stuff in the champions league...

  • If they get Blatter jail time I think we should all agree it's soccer after all

  • It is soccer anyway. We called it that up until 50 years ago. Yanks just followed our lead.

  • Would like to say a big thanks to Graeme Dorrans and wish him all the best with Norwich. A truly gifted and talented player that has so far failed to live up to expectation. However his sublime audacious displays back in the championship deserve a special mention. Few players at any level approach the game with a free spirit and such swash buckling attitude on and off the ball that he once showed. He has been one of a small number of players over the last twenty years at Albion to really excite when he got the ball. Loved the fact that you didn't know what he was going to try but it was probably going to be cheeky. Attack minded, strong tackling, free kick specialist, penalty taker, accurate crosser, dribbler, calm, sweet passer and above all else ..... a child like devil may care approach. Definitely hampered by defence minded coaches that played him out of position all the time in the prem and perhaps also by serious illnesses to his children. Although video highlights can be poor and easily cobbled together to make even Vladimir smicer look good, this goes a little way to revealing his talents. Thanks dude.
