" which dutch team would you care to go on loan at mr yoshinori " -

Pretty standard football business practice, innit?

I know but with Mourinho's record in sending young talent out on loan, them not getting a sniff of the first team, seems like an odd choice, especially if it's to increase the fan base out in the far east/japan, what's the point if he never plays for chelsea apart from on pre season tours of the new cash cow.
Know you haven't brought him yet, but what's the odds he's better than Lukaku? Super Sub Remy? Able to spell Costa when he's suspended for one eye poke to many?

I'd say £4m is a very small price to pay for keeping your #almostwinningtheshirtdeals sponsor happy, countless Japanese shirt sales and a larger, more engaged fan presence...
But I would say that, wouldn't I? I think it's a purely business decision, haven't seen the lad play... Tho' I've heard he's the Japanese Messi...

The odds are that: he'll raise awareness, raise Chelsea's profile in Japan, be paid for by Yokohama rubber, has decent resale potential, sell a load of shirts. If he proves to be capable of getting first team games for Chelsea than that's a bonus.
Don't forget that Chelsea made a lot of profit on the Lukaku transfer and got one of the best strikers in the business in return.
You can twist, turn, criticise and do what you like but you can't really fault Chelsea's transfer strategy over the last 3 or 4 years.

Also kudos to cliveo for some top notch trolling of late.

Apart from the Matic deals.

• #116610
Hopefully, like lots of good Chelsea players at the moment, he'll make his way to 'Boro for a season.
-
• #116611
You're saying he's not got any resale value?
-
• #116612
You can knock the strategy as much as you like but it's working... Keeps the PFP bean counters happy and gives Chelsea the option on lots of new talent...
-
• #116613
He isn't going anywhere!!!
-
• #116614
Not at all, but using him as a makeweight in a €25 million deal, then buying him back for the same amount 3 years later doesn't exactly constitute good business.

Indeed. Arsenal have benefitted from similar deals in the past 5 years.
Oh hai Citeh.

Who else sort of laughed sadly at the thought of a transfer war over little Jackie Wilshire?
-
• #116621
Poor little Jack, too bad he got mixed up with those naughty Turkish blokes up on Green Lanes... Didn't Arsene warn him?
Does he even Paul Merson, bro?

It's not blind faith, it's a desire to see a player who has come through the club junior and youth system actually establish himself in the Arsenal team like, for example Gerrard did at Liverpool. It's been a long time since we had a player do that at a huge club like The Arsenal. Unfortunately, the last player to come through and establish himself was Ashley Cole back in 2000. Jack should be our Xavi, he is that good.
and here's me thinking its just Geordies and scousers that were delusional.

• #116623
in all fairness chelsea have probably spent more on managers than players in the last 4 seasons
