Pathetic from Gerrard. Thank fuck the pointless race for fourth is over. Please let's hope we avoid the dreaded 5th place now though. I'd like to see us finishing 6th

Job done. Made hard work of that but three points nonetheless. Zola seemed to be pleased as chips as well on the telly.

Does anyone know if Aaron Lennon celebrated his goal for Everton?

I've had Sky Sports 1 on since 11:30 with El Clasico still to come. Hmm.

Maybe Liverpool can concentrate on winning the Europa League 2016 now.

Some dirty shithouse moves by players in red and could easily have been down to 8 men. Shameful stuff. Skrtel should be banned for 3 games, too. How Jones gets away with that is beyond me. We lost the game but the ref was gash.
At least they don't get the usual spawny label for this 3 points. I can take it coming from Mata, the least twatty player they have.

Madrid are just brutal on the counter, so much pace, across the front three plus Marcelo joining.
For some reason barca are funnelling all their play out via neymar, leaving messi a bit of a forlorn figure. Need to get him more involved.

Suarez is so worth the grief and issues he brings. Just scored a cracker, makes the run one touch I bring it under control, next to slot it into the corner.
Was going to say if this is barca's future without xavi, then it's one where they cede possession and control of the ball to a more direct hitting the ball into the channels for neymar and Suarez to run onto style of play.
Iniesta and mascherano haven't controlled midfield and Madrid's pressing has discomforted them. Neymar and rakitic have both been caught in possession thinking they had more time than they had.

On another note, the ref's been super lenient tonight, lots of pushes and trips that might have garnered a freekick in other matches are getting waved on.
Players and managers frustrated by this.. -

The play acting going on in this game is seriously pathetic

Brilliant programme on SS1 last night after the football.
Black and Blue - the life of Paul Canoville. Total legend and as inspirational now as he was back in the early 1980s.
Watch it on catch up or when it is repeated.

Apparently the News International owned Sun newspaper is calling for Costa to be banned f0r a supposed elbow to Livermore's back. The Sun, owned by the owners of Sky, decided not to mention the Skertel stamp on de Gea. Wonderful stuff.

I'm bored of newspapers and pundits only discussing 'events' during the game and not actually talking about the football on show (or lack thereof). Less focus on all the niggly shitty stuff and referee mistakes and more actual analysis would be nice.
Having Alan Shearer on both episodes of MOTD this weekend made me despair - how on earth did he ever get paid to manage a football team? It's like listening to a barman.Gary Neville wrote a pretty decent article last week in the Telegraph on how poor Man City et al are in comparison to the top teams in Spain and Germany. He made the point that the Premier League is miles behind in terms of tactics and also players on-field intelligence and ability to adapt to a situation during a game. The whole thing needs overhauling really - from the pundits, to the agents, to the coaches.. it's pathetic considering how much more money there is in the UK compared to every other league.
In other news, when did LVG pull his finger out and start actually looking like he knows what he's doing? No surprise that Carrick and Mata in the team has actually led to some passing, rather than just lumping the ball around and di Maria cutting in from the right endlessly.

I wonder if this is the moment where everyone has understood LVG and the system he wants, or it's a case of him finally understanding the players he has.
Nice start for Chelsea.
