Costa played for Brazil in 2013 but switched to Spain as he had Spanish citizenship granted.

Great goal. Touch from fabregas was sublime.

Hmm - Chelsea looking good, excellent chorus of the Steven Gerrard song as well. Gonna be a cracker of a season in my opinion.

Was supposed to be but we had an unexpected guest over for dinner... And I've got a massive polo weekend hangover anyway...
-
• #109434
That's why I was fuming that we let him go to Chelsea. Pure class

Atrocious refereeing.

• #109436
As I said, this Burnley team are decent.

fantastic pass from fibreglass. got to respect that
-
• #109438
Indeed but it wasn't just Fabregas. 25 pass move involving most of the team. That was the joy of it. For me, however, Costa's goal was the special one. A pure striker's goal. Poached from being in the right place and taking advantage of fortune. That is what we missed last season.
Too early to say how the form of this weekend will translate into the season as a whole but it was certainly encouraging from many angles.

well you can't park the bus on the first game of the season
there's still season tickets to be sold -

But we did park the bus.
In Bolton's penalty area.

why didn't you take up your full allocation last night
a bit far north for some of those kings road types !? -
• #109443
There were 4,000 Chelsea there last night which for a week day night in August, is pretty amazing.
-
• #109444
Particularly as the capacity of Turf Moor is 22,546.
Perhaps one should question why there were not more locals there for their first game in the premier League.

still rusty from a summer of yentzing innit

Good win last night. Midfield looked pretty fluid and better balanced than many games last year. Yes, it's a championship team but it's exactly the kind of opposition we struggled against last year.

He's waiting to see how well the mighty Everton do against Chelsea is a couple of weeks. After that he will be back on here crowing away like nobody's business.
Or maybe he won't.
Can't tell if serious or not.
