  • a five year deal for naming rights of their stadium and in the same division, Derby County had a 10-year deal of around £7m

    fucking lols

  • hold on, how much???

    All legit I'm sure.

    FFP >>>>>>>>

  • is that like the onion / daily mash but for football

    football league world lolz

or maybe they are preparing for champions league football and FFP

  • "X are a big club."

  • Didn't Man City try that and get done for it?

  • nah i think they got done because they only managed a paltry £250mn deal and it wasn't enough to cover their players wages

  • So the transparent workaround wasn't big enough...

  • waiting for 'Boro's £20 trillion shirt sponsorship

  • The Parmo Stadium

  • Have you paid your tax bills yet?

  • Fuck me, you Midlands lot really will latch onto anything, won't ya?

  • Didn't Man City try that and get done for it?

    All legit I'm sure.

    FFP >>>>>>>>

FFP only applies to teams in Europe.

    Which isn't Forest. Yet...

  • Callum Chambers for £11m seems pretty expensive if you ask me.

Schneiderlin and Rodriguez off to Spuds by the sounds of things (Yup got that one wrong!)

Southampton to rebuild with half the dutch league no doubt.

  • Chambers closer to £16m no?

  • FFP only applies to teams in Europe and all other teams outside the premier league.

    Which is Forest.

    Ftfy

  • Tender is the night, I just read the guardian saying that we were in the lead to get schneiderlin and Rodriguez, and hopefully they'll help us towards champions league football and I can see why pochettino would go for players he knows. But am I the only one whose upset with the asset stripping going on at Southampton? I'd hate to see them slip down the league and possibly out of it because they have a great academy producing first team players who catch the eye of the competition. I'm also thinking that a couple of the players are leaving a bit too early, chambers and shaw come to mind.
Hope they've got some youngsters coming through the ranks to fill in the gaps, and if koeman gets value for money with the signings he's going to have to make and keeps them in the top ten, he'd be in with a shout for manager of the year...

  • So Ryan, whose hair is best?

  • Chambers is 11m upfront and up to 16m depending on appearances.

  • Southampton will be trying out the 0-0-0 formation next season

  • They'll probably still finish midtable or thereabouts.

Anyone else who thinks it's madness the amounts of money being pushed Southampton's way? It's like there's no scouting going on at PL level whatsoever. Arsenal are hoovering up any Saints academy player these days as well.

  • Where's Clint when you need him, Southampton look to be reaping the rewards of a fruitful youth system, if they hold on to premiership survival, don't pay over the odds on new players and bring through another crop of young 'uns they could be financially healthy for good while.

    Youth Teamers:
    27m Shaw
    25m Lallana
    16m Chambers

    Bought in
    20m Lovren (bought for 8.5m)
    ?? Rodriguez (bought for 7m)
    ?? Schnederlin (bought for 1.5m??)

  • Schneiderlin is also a homegrown player.

I somehow can't help but think it's ruining the club. Asset stripping at its very finest. Yes, they've signed a couple of replacements but the core of the team had been ripped out and replacements are now getting sold as well. Utter madness if you ask me.

  • Jaw I know, see my post a couple above. Seems like a lack of ideas/scouting from everyone else to asset strip them when if they'd had a bit of the nous and youth team scouting coaching that Southampton had, they wouldn't have to pay over the odds for their product.

If you believe wiki Schneiderlin came through the ranks at Strsbourg, first team he signed professional terms with, been at Southampton since 2008. I also get confused with homegrown and youth team products, gets complicated in a hurry with all the 16yr olds moving countries and teams

  • Or you could argue it's sound financial management. To get those players, Southampton will have had to invest heavily. They've had Bale, Walcott, and others.

    They've not got them anymore.
