Lambert was a bit of a surprise, but when (like MG said) we're playing a team that are scared and just going to defend and therefore pace isn't an issue up front I think he can really help us.

The 'Chelsea' option I believe they call it?

Lambert can't be any worse than Aspas.

Lambert scored double figures in the last two seasons and creates a lot of chances.... so yeah much better

Did Aspas ever get the chance to prove himself?
My favourite bit of gosspip was that Liverpool are looking to treble their money on Assaidi.

not really, he worked hard when Suarez was out. he didn't get a opportunity when we were more free scoring. He was brushed off the ball a fair bit and with these sort of things you don't see them in training.. speaking of which....more double on assaidi wasn't it.. we paid about 3 I thought (BR got rid as he had a bad attitude to training by all accounts)
I'm a little surprised about Alberto being linked with a move, he's looked good on the ball and assured, given he's so young it seems a silly move for me

^ haha I don't really want you to hear this, but I've actually missed your posts. Ridiculous.

Its clear you've never seen him play. I've got absolutely no idea why you'd compare him to LS?? His style tends to be likened to andy carroll but he's miles ahead. He's way more skillful with better positional awareness scoring something like 34 pens on the bounce and can strike a free kick. Plus he pisses all over crouch for heading ability.
Did you not see the chelsea game? Everyone knows how we'll play now and will simply look to line up 2 banks so we need an alternative with a more of a physical presence and a different threat.I'm (potentially) really happy that br isn't going all blinkered with just a plan A. I love that he's looked at things and developed.
Bit touchy, are we? The reason for bringing LS into it is because there's no way you'll keep him once RM/PSG et al come knocking. Maybe this season, not next. Lambert was the penalty taker for Saints last season, yes, but you've already got Gerrard. Also, when I was last here his rumoured price was £9m, which has now gone down significantly.
Looking at things and developing? Have you signed a new central defence while I've been away?
-
• #103564
Yeah, if you pay £30M for him, you are welcome...
He could be a Henderson, or he could be a Carroll. You just don't know...
Ah, it's good to see cold Canadian climate hasn't ruined your English sense of humour.
We're not paying over the odds for him, Baldini is being stripped of his duties as we speak.

Touchy? Not at all. I've watched the initial proposed fee start at about £20M less than a fortnight back and now the numbers are something like £30M. NUTS. LFC have been there too many times.
"The reason for bringing LS into it is because there's no way you'll keep him once RM/PSG et al come knocking."
Is that a fact or wishful thinking? Exactly how many experts on this thread wanked themselves blind repeating exactly those words this time last year?? How many press pages repeated the same line?
If he goes, then fine. If he stays then fine. Either way it's irrelevant mentioning the two in the same conversation as they offer different options for the same desired outcome. At the risk of looping myself, I'm just grateful we've not gone another slight tiki taka style baller. It's an acknowledgement of last season's failings -> managerial growth.
Ask yourself this: Would Lambert have missed that chance that Moses had in the Palace game?Anyway, you of all people should be looking at our manager and owner's stance when LS tried talking himself out of his contract. We kept our star man minus CL football. How'd it feel watching Bale score in the CL final with Luka pulling the strings in midfield?

Lambert is just to grease the wheels for Lallana, no? Seems obvious...
-
• #103567
Big Pun - didn't you pay €2.5m for him and now want £7m from Stoke?
On a side note. Quite sad to see how a club like Southampton is being taken to the dogs, again.

As a long suffering saints fan - we are used to it!

I agree, though I appreciate we're partly architects of that. At least they'll get rich. Just don't do a Tottenham!

Not a fan of Henderson? Everyone gave him shit since he signed, but this year he was one of our best players.

?
In addition, take out the flat track LS and we still scored more than you and most other teams. (Take out all forrins in the league and we topped things.) So don't get twisted about suarez. The glue in our run in was stirling.
You've nose drived since bale did one. We're not so reliant. -

England played OK tonight. Glen Johnson was poor as was Rooney.
