I find it a bit stupid equating two very different things. That team played football as though they came from another planet to the point nothing could live with them at their zenith. It's no big surprise they've dropped in their intensity after so long. Counter attacking teams have found a way by default.

They're not as good as they were. They've been through some turmoil. Pep couldn't face Jose anymore. So he left. Then people started looking at their defence. Which has been shown to have faults. They've not addressed this. How many defenders capable of playing the way Barca need them to play are there? That are ready to slot in and do a job?
The continued attempts to have Masch and Busquets as "dual pivoting midfielders who can do a bit of defending" rather than "finding someone who's going to defend and play a bit" haven't really gone anywhere. I'm not debating they are still a good team, and were at one point the best by some margin. I would just rather watch Madrid counter attack with Bale and Ronnie than watch Barca piddle it about about for an hour before walking it in. Also: I could watch Alonso play all day.

Hopefully with the lure of CL football next season and more funds to spend we should be able to attract better talent. The downside being we will have to pay over the odds and get mugged in the market.
Also there will be a few show ponies available after the WC. I hope we don't get suckered into buying any of them on the back of 4 or 5 good performances -
