I noticed its gone up to £70 on Waitrose now (although still a unicorn)

Sainsburys have Old Pulteney 12 for £25 so £10 off you could do a lot worse. I only popped in for nasal spray but a couple of these has certainly cleared the pipes

Am on the japanese whiskeys and there are a few nice ones in the supermarkets here.

There are some cheap paint strippers whiskeys and perfect for mixing with coke.

Did we get an answer as to which whiskey to buy now for a new baby, so it's drinkable (or sellable) in 18 years?

Unless it's in the cask it'll not change in 18 years

If it was me, I'd invest your budget in a FTSE/Global tracker for the next 18 years, then come 2040, cash out the investment and buy a very nice 18 year old bottle.

Cadenheads in Marylebone has reopened. Picked up a Kilkerran 12 for £40. They had Longrow Red but sold out shortly after opening on Saturday. There's a sign on the window apologising to the neighbours, apparently there were big queues and a fight.

Casually forgot they bought a 374ltr barrel of Macallan in 1988, sold it at auction for £1million.

A really off the beaten path purchase. Small bath Cypriot malt.
