Foo, sweety pie!
Going to have to get used to this one, I'm swinging over from the Laphroaig and Caol Ila trees to this part of the forest.

Excellent choice,
In the last century I had the great good fortune to spend New Year in one of the Bunnahabhain Cottages with licence to roam free. During that time, wandering into one of the warehouses while the locals were filling the casks, I was lucky enough to have Bunnahabhain spirit dispensed into my outstreched palms from the gun used to fill the barrels. It was delicious, and IMHO waiting another 12 years for the finished product was a waste of time. Drinking Jura spirit before and after however was a whole different ball game!

Octomore 8.2 this evening. First time I’ve opened the bottle in what must be almost a year and it’s really, really good. Wine casks sometimes leave a bit of astringency but I think because this one was mainly in dessert/sweet wine casks you’re not getting any of that and just loads of fruit instead

I've got an 8.3 on the go at the minute, easily the most fragile octomore I've had. Touch of water opens it up nicely but you have to be really careful as it doesn't take much to wash it out.

Just looked up the 8.3 and have got a bit confused. I thought each release (x.1,2,3 etc) was the same base spirit matured in different ways but I seem to be way out as the 8.3 is a 5yr and the 8.2 is an 8yr. What’s the relationship between the bottles from each release or is it purely that they’re released together?

It's the barley as well, 1 and 2 are Scottish barley. 3 is islay grown barley from a local farmer.
1 is pretty much just bourbon and Tennessee whisky barrels and 2 is the experimental edition that can be matured in anything.

Hardly a Burns supper but drinking an Ardbeg Blaaack tonight. Sneaking suspicion I’ll be finishing off a glass of Bruichladdich Rocks as well as despite it being the easiest drinking bottle I own it’s apparently ‘a bit too much’

Woodford was £25 in Asda, so took a punt. -

25! Is there a new trade deal with the US in place already?
This reminded me that I have the classic two glasses left in the bottle of a bottle of bowmore 12...
Very nice it is too, sadly now just have one glass worth left in the bottle though...
