Glen Keith Distillery Edition £20 in coop seems good value based on reviews.

just picked up a couple of bottles of this https://www.bartelswhisky.com/shop/blended-scotch-whisky-17yo/
£36 for a bottle of 17yo blended macallan, HP, glenrothes and glenturret doesnt seem bad value so will let you know how it fairs.

"Japanese whisky doesn’t have to be made in Japan to be called such. In fact, an alarming amount of it isn’t. “To say that whisky-making regulations in Japan are loose is a major understatement,” says Stefan van Eycken, author of Whisky Rising: The Definitive Guide to the Finest Whiskies and Distillers of Japan. “If they were any looser, you’d be able to sell tap water as Japanese whisky.”

I bought two this weekend (anniversary present to the both of us).
15 years.
Both bottled at 2003/2004
Old particular - Port Dundas 14, says 14 but MoM have it listed as distilled 2004 bottled 2019.
North British 15 Year Old 2003 - distilled 03 bottled 19.Both are pretty special.

I'm surprised powers johns lane hasn't had a mention in here yet. As an Irish, redbreast is generally my go to for something a bit nicer than your average whiskey, but my god the powers 12yr johns lane has firmly booted it out of the top spot!

I was looking at the redbreast 15 (it's a single still isn't it?)....

I'd put Black Barrel above the two Caskmates, pretty much agree on the rest. Redbreast 12 is my go to. Best bang for your buck.
Went to an Athru tasting the other week. Very interesting, nice but pricey Irish whiskey

Anyone seen this bullshit?

Me.

Doesn't everyone do that? Free bar = throw the most expensive shit in your glass.
-
• #3014
My local has that on the shelf (might be 12yo). I'd never seen it before so googled it when I was last in there. Irish, something about the only pot still whiskey still being made or something.

April 1st?

It does feel like a hoax alright

I was drinking it Thurs night, it is good value.
-
• #3018
Should I buy it?
-
• #3019
I didn't drink any of it so I have no idea. I tend not to like Irish whiskey so much so I'm the wrong person to ask. That opinion was established some time ago though so grain of salt and all that.

Shirley even you wouldn't do single malt and coke?! Haha.
-
• #3021
I have done. I will almost certainly do it again.
Single malt doesn't always equal great. I have nicer and more expensive bourbons here than some of the single malts I have here. Sometimes I'm drinking bourbon and coke and run out of bourbon, I dunno, it's a drink, I'm not precious about it unless it's special enough or costing me enough to care.

This. Some of them are only any use being one note in a blend.

There's a tenner off Glenfiddich IPA in Tesco the now.
It's rare!

Wasn't thinking about cost, more the fact that single malt and coke will always be manky IMO.
Ta!
