did a quick google, and this list came up
https://www.craftspiritsxchange.com/blog/five-new-york-bourbons-you-should-know/
kings county you can get over here
http://kingscountydistillery.com/products/as well as the hudson bay
http://www.tuthilltown.com/spirits/both around the £35-£40 mark, over here might be cheaper in the states, your sister will need to take into account the sales tax new york is 8.865% new jersey 6.625%
Best bet is to find out where she's staying, find nearest best bottle shop close to her, and see what they stock and take a punt from there. Other three distilleries on that list I've never heard of and might be interesting as well
Also @Chalfie knows the guys behind FEW

King's County is very expensive, I would go for Widow Jane (made in Red Hook) over that if you were going to buy a NY "bourbon". But any time you buy a whiskey from the city you have to be cognizant you're paying a hefty mark-up because of how expensive rent is.
Hillrock and Hudson are better bets. Whistlepig is very good, too (Vermont). Farther a field a lot of people swear by Stranahan's (Colorado) and Virginia Highlands is a surprisingly good single malt, a bit of a curiosity; Sonoma County West of Kentucky is solid.
Astor Wine and Spirits (in NoHo) has an incredible selection and good prices.

I'm meant to be going to the US next month; it didn't even dawn on me to have a look for interesting bourbon/rye. That'll be a Christmas present for my brother and one to myself sorted then.

So after over two and a half years of managing to not open a bottle of Pappy 15, I was hit with hard times and it went up for auction. There was another 15 but slightly more recently bottled which fetched £750 iirc, mine made it to £825, not bad considering it cost me £242. If only it was still possible to purchase for £130 as it was about 6 years ago. Doubt I'll ever be buying another, or at least not until I have a enough money that and a grand and a half for a 700ml of bourbon to drink is reasonable or until the price comes back down.
There was a 23 which fetched £1550.tl;dr Pappy is stupid expensive

I've had a few of the Carolus beers but I can't remember if I've had that. We usually buy a batch of them for xmas so I'm 13 beers in before we're cracking out the good stuff.
