3 nights of that stuff. You're a glutton for punishment obviously.

I had 1 night of it. Nearly died, or at least that was how I felt the next day. Never again!

  • stupid is what i am!

  • The folk band I play in has a tradition (since last week when the bass player found half a bottle of Grants left over from the Christmas party in his office and started passing it round) of having Whiskey at rehearsals.

This week: Old Pulteney. I'd had the bottle at home since before Christmas and wasn't sure how I felt about it. I now realise my problem was that I hadn't drunk enough of it. Hipflask tastic. Lovely drop.

  • anyone else going to the burns night event on Friday at the SWC ?

  • Tried both the Yamazaki and Hakushu 12 years yesterday as I'm going to Japan next week and wanted to know which I'd prefer. Both lovely but the slight sweetness of the Yamazaki won it for me!

  • No Burns shenanigans for me sadly. I will be toasting at friend's house though.

  • Tonight I shall be drinking;
    Ardbeg Uigeadail
    Laphroaig Triple Wood
    Talisker 57 Degrees North
    Caol Ila 12 Year Old
    Highland Park 18 Year Old

I've had the triple wood and caol ila before and remember them being nice, might have had and forgotten others, looking forward to the highland park.

  • I like the 57 degrees North - very pokey

  • Well I'm jealous

  • I also had whisky marmalade for breakfast.

  • Have you tried marmalade vodka? It's what I put in my hip flask for any long rides. Especially at this time of year.

  • Oooh.

  • If Paddington Bear were an alcoholic, it's what he would drink.

  • I'll keep an eye out.

I can confirm that ^ is very nice indeed

  • will have a dram tonight for Burns

    Gordon Burns of course

  • Nice whisky last night, bad head today but worth it. The highland park was lovely, easy to drink but with some decent flavours. The triple wood was mega peaty, a lot of effort to drink but worth it. Talisker wasn't nice on the first sip but once the alcohol had burned its way through your tongue it was very moreish. Caol ila was a bit meh after some of the stronger flavours of the others and the ardbeg was good to finish on, being a bit of a middle ground between all the others.

Although, on reflection, I wouldn't recommend it for breakfast.

  • Looking forward to cracking this one open tonight
