  • On the lookout for some medium size bindings, anything going?

I have some black burton missions, I think they are 11/12 season but hardly used at all. Can't remember if they are medium or large though, will check when i'm home. I used them with a size 9 boot.

  • Ahh really looking forward to this season.

  • Thanks for the reply Indra!

  • Helmet decision time:

Bern Watts EPS Helmet - Matte Black: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors

    Red Men's Hi-Fi Ski Helmet: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors

It needs to be one of these, as I have a daftly large head, and know that these fit.

The main advantage to the Bern is that I could probably use it on the bike too (without looking like I was wearing a snowboard helmet).

Took a Bern a couple years ago for a weekender. Served well, hardly noticed it, stayed cool, didn't budge and saved my cranium from quite a massive knock on a rock rise when I planted it sideways. Three thumbs up to that lid.

  • Did you have to buy a separate goggle clip?

Never felt the need to to be honest. Either rested them on the lip, or just completely removed them. I'm a massive cheapskate, so it might be the greatest invention in snowboarding, but I wouldn't know about it.

  • I've found a £5 clip, so might as well stump up the cash.

I reckon Bern is the way forward - It's not like I actually use headphones while boarding - I think I listened to music one with my old Red helmet.

Until I split it in half...

  • I find Bern a tad heavy, and bulky. I can only get my dome into a L/XL though.

I'm buying a helmet before the season starts (and I can see fresh snow from where I'm sat now :) ). My preferred chioce would be a POC receptor bug. But my second chioce of a Smith variant comes up more frequently at a good price. I like to be able to open vents for warm Easter Skiing/boarding, and close them for nippy January trips.

  • FWIW. My chioces are also based on a desire to use the helmets for snow biking.

If you're spending time up a a mountain, make it a comfortable time and splash the cash for sure. That's a pint and packet of crisps. Orrr...spend it ON a pint and a packet of crisps...

    I need a 61cm - 63cm - only Bern & Red really come in those sizes, unfortunately.

In the right colour, at least...

  • If you HAVE to do a helmet, it has to be sandbox http://www.sandboxland.com

I'm a 60. But being 5'7", anything bulky makes me look like this guy.

They would be too small, I'm guessing: 58-62 usuall means it's a 60 at most.

  • Wow....never thought I'd ever witness a conversation about big head problems that would make me feel so sad and lucky at the same time...

I have to. I'm having another bash at skiing. Because the kids have skis. I am a fecking liability with skis on.

Anyway the Legend looks really interesting.

I love the customisable warmth, and fit. Perfect. Not only does it look like it would make a perfect snow biking helmet (vents open, but ear warmers in place), I can strip it down for MTBing. My road helmet is near useless for that TBH.

    Cheers.

Looking at all the swappable pads I think they look better than most for sizing. The POC receptor Bug comes in a 61-62 (XXL).

  • The POCs look as though they might fit. Now to track one down...

  • My sandbox is HUGE! See if you can try one on. I don't have a small head but can easily fit a hat and my goggle strap inside mine!

this - they're massive...bucket like. if you can't fit your head in an L/XL, i'd be worried. I have a big head...masses of room.

  • Ha this 100% I think I've got one knocking about, can check later.

I currently just use a capix although it's not really a helmet I use it most of the time.

  • So I'm replacing my old Nidecker snowboard. I spend most of the time powder / around the mountain, not parks/jumps. If it's icy/groomer day I'll throw on skis. With this in mind I've been debating this board and binding set... Note, this is only my second snowboard ever, so any suggestions would be great. I'm definitely intermediate, but will spend most of the season on it in powder (so should be better).

Seems pretty good for $447 inc delivery/taxes/etc..

For the record, I don't want a Burton board. Mainly because every fucker and their dog has one.
