Reasonable dump of fresh snow last night, clear blue skies today! I had a lesson booked anyway, instructor turned up with transceiver shovel and probe and we spent the morning off piste :) these are the days we dream of when we plan a trip

Sunshine has been epic so far. First two days it snowed a decent amount and we had insane powder, today no snow but still great conditions, managed a few diamonds so getting much more confident now.
Yesterday we made it up to the village before the lifts started, so we were first up when they did and we ploughed first tracks through knee deep powder and I couldn't stop laughing.
Views are incredible.

Is anyone thinking of replacing their jacket?
If so I'm after a half decent breathable jacket (ideally goretex/similar). Medium sized.
Will need to be picked-up/dropped-off this week.
Cheers.

Anyone upgrading their board this year and fancy offloading their old one?
I'm looking for a snowboard for a present.
160+ cm
Something good for a beginner - intermediate.
Not worried about it being any good in the park.
Something like a Burton Process Flying V.Anyone got anything suitable?

Hunting for a new jacket at the moment and could do with some help on a couple of Qs.
Checked out a Burton with the chest/back lined with a primaloft type insulation. What are peoples thoughts on this?
I'm hopefully going to Whistler in Feb, so it will be cold, but normally I end up going later in the year when it's warmer. That and the fact that I usually run warm, makes me think a pure shell is the best option.
I've also spotted a discount on an Arc'teryx Atom LT Hoody. Some reviews talk about wearing this under a shell for riding. Has anyone ever done that? What's it like?
Cheers.

If you are still looking I've got one in the shed I'm not using, comes with a board bag and bindings. It isn't a Burton but good all round board, if interested I can dig out the details. Will need an edge and a wax
I've stopped travelling with boards

• #1359
Yes interested. If you can give me details that would be great. Also, what £££ you're after.
Much appreciated. -

Hi
Here you go. 157 Solomon Prospect and solomon bindings. Much better condition than I thought. No dings or big scratches in the base. Edges are clean. A wax and a grind and good to go.
Throw in the bag and say £150? Currently set up for regular and bkugjt for an all rounder. Decent on the pow, park and piste

Thanks dude, but too small :(

Ah, sorry, I had a 162 but found it a bit cumbersome so got rid
Will price drop to £120 ono as think it might have been a bit on the high side
I'm 5'11 and fairly solid so 157 suited me well

This is pretty much the approach I take - Shell, then layer up underneath. I prefer non-hooded insulation layers though as the hood in hood tangling tends to wind me up. -20 last year with base layers, shirt, insulation layer and shell was fine. Have also worn proper full down outer jackets - super toasty but low regulation when you step in out of the snow!

Long shot - could anyone lend me a roller board bag that holds 2 boards til feb 19th or so? I am away for two weeks and will take two boards with the aim of deciding which one to keep. My usual bag isn't a roller one and lugging two boards around is going to be a bit heavy for me.
Will recompense with beer and/or donation to forum and/or a hire fee

Some binding advice...
At the weekend my rear foot binding kept rotating if I landed a jump or was pushing it hard.
I tried tightening the screws down on the slope, but it still slipped a couple more times.
Just taken them off and cleaned them. My train of thought is that one or more of the cheap pressed steel washers isn't sitting tight. This is because when I undid the screws just now all but one were tight and snuggly done up. That one screw (top right here) doesnt seem to like sitting square either.
Any other thoughts?
And can you buy better quality grip washers(?) and are they binding specific?
Also if it is that one screw, wheres the best hole on the board to put it? I'm thinking leading foot, inside heal as that would have the least force on it.
Cheers.
(they're K2 bindings)

Sometimes happens and my experience not much you can so except loctite
-
• #1368
Cheers.
TBH the loctite that's on the screws is ancient, so I guess it might be worth a clean and reapplication.
Shiny cnc bicycle and motorbike parts also have me looking at those cheap bits of stamped metal thinking, "wouldn't some perfect sized alu washers look perfect?

Are the plastic notches 'chewed'? The left hand side of that washer looks to be higher than the right, is it sitting equal and flush?
-
• #1370
No they're not chewed.
Yes it's sitting higher/angled. I can't work out why, but bolts in that hole refuse to sit any other way. It's the same on the top right front foot binding.
If I can get back out on the slopes I'll put some loctite on and see if it happens again. TBH I'm not mad on the bindings, but they're always so expensive it seems pointless to buy new ones.

Those washers and discs are K2 specific but you should be able to get a new set from a K2 dealer, they might have to order them in from the brand though. If the teeth on the underside of the disc aren't worn and the match up nicely with the baseplates teeth it should have to do with the bolts just coming undone too quickly. 3 bolts being tight should be enough though and not slip even with a lot of force being applied(not recommending just using 3 bolts).
Maybe just buy some new bolts. They are universal size pretty much. M6 16mm, most snowboard shops should have a pack of those for a fiver or something. think a new set of the same discs and bolts would be 25-30 quid which would be cheaper than new bindings. -
• #1372
Cheers. I may grab some new bolts and thread lock. All the teeth seem in vgc.
Yeah I can't and wouldn't buy new ones. Honestly they're fine, it's just they have the AutoUprise automatic toe ratchet which in theory sounds great, but in practice is a pain.
Just as an aside I picked up one of these "tool belts" ages ago in a sale as a bit of a fun gimmick. It came in pretty handy and worked much better than I expected. If folks carry a bag or a small multitool then it's a bit pointless, but if not it's pretty neat and easy to take off. Tools aren't going to stand up to constant use, but good enough do the job if your up the mountain.

Someone came with one of those on their first trip, we called them 'Stabby Steve' from there-forth.

Ha! Thought it was a bit gimpy.
When I image searched, I also found this:

if anyone is in the market for one, I'm selling a 2013 Burton Vapor 157cm in good condition for cheeps. You'll need EST bindings tho.
Cheers - I'll leave the probe and shovel at home and double up on T-shirts and suncream
