Not sure how many teams there'd be if it was only 12 months or less...
Anyway. I'm up for making the trek tomorrow if the weather is good.
Anyone else in? Flexi? Louis? Prav? Punkture? Spunkture?

This +1,000,000
It's a new (trying to be revived?) scene so let those who MIGHT be the new crop of London players have their day. It will be nice for the LPC to turn up in good numbers to help with organising/ref/demo/exhibit/whateverbutjustnotplayinthetourney.

Kevin's got a point. Name 20 players that have been playing less than a year? 21 for seven teams.
Let's say you can, how many of them will actually be able to make what ever day is selected? Maybe 2/3 playing under a year?

Never seen the West crowd but from Peckham/London Fields:
- Angus
- Alex (ex-hockey player)
- KenKen
- Laurie (ex-hockey player)
- Lolabelle
- Poots
- Paul (thedutch)
- Rickster
- Peckham beginner whose name escapes me (Black Create, road gear)
- Peckham beginner whose name escapes me (Flouro orange (faded pink?) bike, dual brake but very rear biased, bike mechanic, got called for skidding into peeps on a SE throw in night)
<12 mths( Banned/Included? Let the Jono'sleadingmeCOMM decide ;) ) but pretty awesome:
- Arunas
- Barry
- CowHen
- Fiona
- Kit
- Lish
- Mira
- Tom
That's 18, whether they are all keen or not to play a tourney or included/allowed is another question, but 18 is pretty close to 20 no?

I'd deffo be interested! I'd totes suggest making it like an open day/taster session too - introduce people how to play/do some drills/play some games with one skilled player on each team etc and then tell people to hang around and watch some beginners?

So after waiting 3 years for a West London tournament, I won't be able to play in it?
Big priority for KCC and RBKC right now is getting local people on bikes. I would suggest that any tournament should be organised with this in mind, nothing else.
Jono, I'm happy to talk to them about it.

I'll stay out of the tourney debate, but will be more than happy to assist in anyway possible, I finish college in a week.
but should be in for later

Could there not be a beginners and not beginners tourney in one day or is that too much? Anything that promotes/publicises polo has got to be a good thing, surely?
Also happy to help with organising.

It's all a bit here and there atm Jess...rained has stopped me going to West really and the last few sats I've had stuff on like Big Ride and away at wedding this sat. As soon as my polo bike is built I'm going to try and make at least one session a week, somewhere!
Where you going atm?

Souths. It's closer even though I'm technically North and it's fun! I have been known to play everyday though and more than happy to do polo with a few newer people anytime.

There are two courts in the sports centre currently being renovated... they look like basketball courts... I might ask the manager next time what's being done with them
These are being renovated into astroturf courts, so the court that we play on now will be the only hard surfaced court suitable for polo in the venue.

Except the 5 tennis courts, which look perfect to me...
-

Asked the facilties booker about that; they're clay.
Here's what it says on their website.
Synthetic Clay/Grass Courts
The Westway has two synthetic clay courts and two synthetic grass courts (Westway Blue!). The synthetic clay courts can be booked during weekdays and weekends. We also have two synthetic grass courts which are currently available for tennis at the Weekends only. (These courts are used for football during the week.)
8 Indoor Acrylic Tennis Courts
Our top-quality indoor courts use the same hard-court surface as The Austratlian Open and are ideal for players looking for a fast game. The indoor courts run side-by side and are ideal for tournaments, schools and corporate events.
Concessionary prices are available to over 60’s, registered disabled people, students and people receiving benefits, subject to proof of status.

Is there any word on extending the sessions beyond the initial 10(?) week period?

Talked to RBKC today. Looks like we will be able to keep the Westway sessions going - RBKC is keen, they just need to chat with Westway about availability. They're going to get back to me within the next couple of days.
Beginners invitational tournament - yes, probably just those playing 12 months or less - provisionally happening the week or second week after HB/LO, RBKC rep said that many councils are trying not to organise stuff until after the Olympics are done.
Likely to be limited to about a dozen teams because there is only one court available.
wow they read my mind, west london invitational to b and c cats only. It'd be good if those other two courts were done, last time i was there they were still dug up... I'll investigate further on wednesday
