Some good, some not my bag but I like this guys taste for the most part.

  • Doing it wrong -

  • I should be packing to fly to Amsterdam early tomorrow but I'll find a couple for ya.

    Queens day revels?

still looking at Bimmers btw... thing I'm realising is that no matter how nice you think yours is, you always find one much nicer, but just a bit more expensive...

    such as this one:

  • but am now looking at vehicles such as this that will be a bit more practical in swedish winter time but are equally tax exempt, if not so pretty:

  • Wrong wheels.

Additional: The grill is wrong, should be the standard stainless one.

  • And colour, and just very, very ugly.

  • I love these, and this is a great photo

These are cheap!!!! If they are get one, they are great. Expensive if they go wrong as second hand parts are quite difficult to source. Especially gearboxes and transfer boxes.

I am looking for a good one in Germany and that way I can drive it back, drive it in Holland for the next few months then register it in Sweden. They seem pretty solid-probably not the most eco but then the diesels could be converted to bio I suppose.

If doing it that way I'll probably try and get an RAC type inspection done on it before i go all the way over there to see it myself. Found a couple just over the border from here that are 4000 euros and pretty low miles for a '84 car! Faced with a Swedish winter it's probably more realistic than wincing every time a pretty 2002 gets sprayed with rock salt ;( and yes, cheap and tax free that was the original criteria... i do like the style even if it does slightly conjure up spoilt premier league wideboy associations.

  • Ah in right hand drive they never sold well. Had a look at the ex military stuff from scandawega.

They are great vehicles and very well built.

Be wary of bio and the cold or get one of these

    Always wanted one

  • If its going to have rock salt thrown at it, look at ensis fluid. Better than wax oil and dintrinol stuff.

also found a cheap suzuki samurai in very good nick. worthwhile or stay away? anything i've read seems positive... just a pity they're quite wee. Also a few pajeros, but not sure they'll have the same re-sale ease as a G Klasse.

  • bit under powered, but there is away to fit an xud engine and vitara box then get it lifted and they are very very capeable off roaders.

Had a sj they do fall over at not very high speeds, but the flip side is very little damage and easily put back on its wheels.

Only 1l and 1.3 but they are thirsty

I don't know if that could be said for the human occupants though!

You can probably tell i do like the Germanic uber styling. Inspires visions of tearing through virgin terrain listening to Orff and swigging schnapps as I run down cattle too dazzled by my spots to move... limbs flying asunder and then popping into a nice local cafe for some strudel and coffee.

could always just but the Touring on one of these as a happy compromise?

Nah just injury to the ego, no actual injury to me. Muddy banks are my friend.

  • Shite picture, but she's a fucking beast - turning the electronics off today in the wet was eye opening, I foresee large tyre bills in my near future. not sure about the wing, though it is the original AMG one.

Exhaust being done on Monday, neighbours are going to be so pleased

  • Pic from the Gille VIlleneuve feature in the new edition of Car - he was truly the man
