My mate Ryan did the DBW conversion with ITBs on his E30 and it was so sick
Can't find the exact video in the series that covers it but the whole playlist is worth a watch:

I've been fucking around with my throttle cable for years, can never get it perfect but a mate has put me on to a kit I've got in the garage to put on the car. Going to try it out in the next few weeks since I'm unemployed again and got time.
Doing wiper motor on the VXR8 today, been annoying not being able to drive in the rain 😂

Also, what is it with TPSs...? It's not just aftermarket or modified nonsense, I know the E46 M3 suffers with TPS bullshit too. Such an important sensor and it seems to be extremely fragile.

Does anyone know what the score is with BBS now - are they still bankrupt or have they been refinanced/sold/whatever? I’m interested in whether I can get a set of LM’s in 5x130.

Does it need to be new? I have a mate in Germany who can facilitate used
Gerade bei #Kleinanzeigen gefunden. Wie findest du das?
-
• #81232
They don’t have to be new at all - the more affordable the better, although I’d prefer the gold faced ones.

Ha yeah I am familiar with that build, the main reason for me to go to use DBW is to get the throttle blip for future proofing if I end up being able to afford a sequential at some point (unlikely but still)
I don’t know what the deal with TPS sensors is, the number of times I’ve had issues and we’ve swapped the TPS and it’s sorted it is unreal

Funniest part of the car was the compressor for the paddle shift making a fucking racket. Be out on track in it and hear a noise and it's just the air compressor doing bits

Yeah I once co-drove in a Polo WRC “proto” class car which had Evo running gear and pneumatic paddle shift which made all manor of daft noises even just getting it on the trailer

Would I be liable for UK VAT on those? I’m assuming yes but I’m not sure on the rules for second hand stuff.

Hello, is the fluid leaking from the pulley end of the pump? First call would be when was the fluid last changed?

Is the TPS something special? Only have experience of TPS is on motorbikes and they seem pretty reliable. Especially something exposed a lot more than a car.

Not if Till (my mate) drives them over

Ah, good point.

I don’t know specifically, there are different types though the more expensive ones are “contactless”. I’ll see what mine has on it seeing as I just flew 19,000km back to the Uk and can walk in the garage and see

I don’t know what type this is, and as you can see the PN has worn off. Ideal

Cleaned it this week and fitted a wiper motor that works today. Still very much loving the big dumb car

Used the spray on ceramic/hydrophobic coating which is quite impressive for just something you spray on then pressure wash off

righto, i'll peer at it in the light tomorrow. does the fluid, which I assume is for a hydraulic system, also in some way a lubricant for the bearings? is it a total no no to get fluids/oils/wd40 on the belt?
-
• #81246
It will be an automatic transmission fluid, so lubricates the pump. What I'm wondering is if the bearings have too much play, so the seal that the pulley shaft has worn so it leaks.
Can't remember if that pump is on an a manual or auto tensioner, or if it is a v belt or ribbed belt. Trying to figure our if the tensioner maybe under tensioned due to a new belt being fitted.
The fluid in there should be bright red.

Excellent video on fixing VAG keys
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiACkGW84FA
Mine required a bit of filing to swap. Quite time consuming as you obviously want to get it just right and it's a small part. But not hard.
Nervous about ripping my old case apart. But not sure why.
Edit: ripped it apart. Tricky to do without cerclip pliers. Annoyingly the new spring is quite weak to flip the key - so it does it in slow mo. Unfortunately the beefy oem spring got a bit twisted in the destruction but it doesn't fit the new latch hardware anyway.
Still for £7 and about an hour it's good enough for a 90k car.

No mention of the 300k MK1 rs 2000 escort continuation?

Think I'm gonna treat myself to that blow off valve this Christmas. And these. 🔊👀

I really want to run it on Haltech or similar as it’s a lot more affordable than Syvecs, but the engine builder knows Syvecs and wants to run it on the Dyno with the system he knows.
