  • Yep, very cool but looks fucked. Papped in Hull?

  • Does this belong to a Saab repair place?

Wonder how hard it would be to turn in to a Lancia ;)

  • another evening of rally car yoga as i started getting the underbody guards back on.

  • It was a shed. Sounded like a bag of spanners being dropped down the stairs.

  • How cheap, and how shed like?

Were the exterior panels in good nick? Seats can be changed, and the engine rebuild kit includes all the bits that go wrong. Might as well go full barabus engine spec.

Reality is if it is cheap and you have the skills they can be fun.

  • Same one in London Feb 2018.

  • Papped in Hull

    Yes, on a visit

@lynx yes, but i only ever pass on an evening, so don't know whether its operating
@grams looks a bit healthier there

  • It was a 450 698cc £650 so I’m not sure what I expected, but there was white smoke, a huge oil stain on the drive under it, what sounded like a knock from down low in the engine, the interior was hanging and smelt of mouldy milk. Surprisingly no rust though. Oh the tyres where shot as well.

  • Things that have happened to my car since owning it:
An engine warning light - resolved by new fuel sensor
Scraping noise from brakes - "bedding in" not so sure, apparently this has stopped now and the associated rattling too. But only after a god almighty noise on a journey today.
A/C - blowing out hot on passenger freezing on driver.

    HAPPY DAYZ

  • thats just car ownership

  • Fucking hell. Parenting is easier.

  • It's Panic Central. 😬

  • There was a garage that had one of those Saab trailer cars that dealt with Saab's and I've seen one with other Saab's on the back.

  • Oh I can diagnose the faults on the engine, cracked turbo manifold and probably fucked turbo. Probably big end worn due to contaminated oil. Burnt valves too. As that what usually happens.

You can buy the full rebuild kit (Inc valves and pistons) for around 800 now and is twice what it was. All the bits are from Germany I think.

  • I think it was Smart tuning(?) that has all the bits, but this one was just too scabby to bother with.

  • Something like that, mine was worth it as it was in France and got it 'free' as the engine was fucked. The french car buying system is weird.

  • Was it always doing that hot/ cold thing?

  • A/C - blowing out hot on passenger freezing on driver.

Probably a broken plastic gear that controls the heater flap position

  • It was not great when I drove it in Norfolk, then I had to redirect the air to the screen when it was raining last week.
    Then here we are.
@pifko this sounds like a massive pita

  • I believe this is marketed as 'dual zone climate control'

  • In other car news our car got nicked from outside our house 10 days ago. I really liked that car. Dealing with insurance and eventually finding a new car to buy is an absolute pain in the arse.

  • Almost as bad as buying a new phone and getting it just how your old phone was.

  • Or a new work laptop " oh this is just a new box with the same crap in it"
