  • For the group, if you think this is high, look up the zf hp7 autobox oil and filter costs. Even tho it is a relatively easy change

  • Great car

We had the second generation, so much better than the Golf or similar UK shitboxes.

Thinking about it the 2nd gen would make a great ULEZ dodge classic.

  • Here's a challenge for LuFGuSSers: call the dealer and find out the asking price for this notorious Bugatti. It's a pointless one-off Veyron made for a knobhead named Cack, using 20 tons of aluminium blocks. New price was claimed to be more than double the Veyron RRP of $2.5+m. Story here: https://jalopnik.com/this-bugatti-veyron-s-milled-aluminum-body-panels-were-1851545472 Dealer listing here: https://www.mechatronik.de/en/sales/current-stock/bugatti-veyron-grand-sport-vitesse/

  • 50 euros or “if you have to ask you can’t afford it so don’t bother asking because we won’t tell you” bollox

  • It's unique selling points don't add anything. And it needs the KAQ stuff removed. By rights it should be worth less than a normal Veyron.

  • It doesn't seem that far away from what Bugatti already made - just a more extreme version to avoid weld lines. I imagine it's the kind of thing they would have liked to have produced, but a line has to be drawn somewhere for their engineers.

It's a horrible, wasteful car, naturally, but so are all their others.

  • I need something more functional than my M2 as I'll soon be carting around, occasionally, 2 car seats. (I have a XC90 for proper family and planet killing duties - this is a safe space right??)

Macan GTS seems to fit the bill. It's also, for me, a better specced vehicle than say a SQ5 which are similar price. Most importantly it has adjustable head rests, a key feature that stops me buying many other cars with 'fixed' sports seats.
    Any owners in here?

  • Why get another big SUV? Would nothing smaller suit?

  • Status anxiety?

  • I would say it's particularly big if you take the below examples into account, 20cm in it - the XC90 is big; but I am larger than the average bear at 194cm. I need space, and as a consequence rear passengers lose it. The more upright seating in a 'SUV' affords that's space (and headroom for moi).

To give you a run down of the last 18 months vehicle wise:
M140i - loved, but hedged. Ooops.
S3 - hated, head hit roof lining going over crests on road and speed bumps.
V60 Polestar - failed purchase. Couldn't find another ~100 in UK.
M2 - natural progression from M140i, enjoy the drive, but it's lacking the 2 extra doors I need.

Post S3 I tried a lot of cars. But everything moderately sporty has/ had space or seating issues for me. The M2 was in desperation having spent 2 months without a car, but it fitted me. Now I need a car that fits me and my kiddos, on occasion.

  • If you're playing in that space, m3 touring?
Or RS4. Kids don't need much space in the back.

  • So in a comment likely to trigger, I'm buying cash. I've never financed (pcp etc.) a car and not sure how I'd feel about the monthlies on the m3. They're bloody lovely though and I keep seeeing them at meets.
I'm happy with a 6yr old car, contrary to other opinions I don't do it for status. I don't even wash the things.

  • Surely a Golf with the seat low gives enough head room? Also if you've got child seats in the back how much legroom is needed? Or are they rear facing?

  • Head room, yes. Leg room, no. That's both me and the kiddo.
Pic of my seating position - there's nowhere for my kids feet to go without their knees up at their ears if the car seat is fitted. I have one front facing and another who will be rear facing for a couple of years.

  • Fair enough.

Tbh I'm always staggered by how poor leg room is in most cars until you get to something Superb sized. Small German saloons probably being the worst offenders.

  • I sometimes catch the part of my personality that thinks cars are acceptable thinking that macans are quite hot. Modern Porsche definitely nail that German luxury thing.

My sister has one of the BMW minivans. They are nice and subtle and I think some come with adjustable rear seats.

  • I was in a Superb Taxi last year and was very impressed with the rear seat space - both my wife and I are over 6ft and had a comfortable journey!

  • True YD is long, but an Abarth 500 was still big enough in the front and back right up to when I sold it, at which point eldest was 14. I'm 183cm.

  • Francis Bourgeois has confirmed his 'real un' status:

  • My m340i has almost as much room in the back as my old 5 series touring
