  • I trawled http://www.beforward.jp

No warranty so on your head be it!

For anyone considering it, I really can't recommend Torque GT highly enough, they were superb throughout, transparent with their cut of the price (about £1k in my case) and they will do as much as possible to mitigate the chance of you ending up with a dud.

If anyone wants to chat about it drop me a PM.

  • No warranty so on your head be it!

a braver man than i - absolutely love to see it though. nice work!

  • I always think negatives in this way make no sense!

I really can't recommend Torque GT highly enough

"I really highly recommend Torque GT" is way nicer.

  • speedo is in km/h

I thought that, bitd, importers had to fit mph speedos to obtain a valid MoT?

  • it's one of life and language's most exciting rollercoasters, especially with judicial use of a dramatic pause

  • I'm not sure about that to be honest. The mph heads up display was optional and, I believe, fitted after the car passed its MOT. I'm in no hurry to get pulled over and find out!

  • Inglés es un idioma bastante extraño, no?

  • Bueno sí, y la gente tambien.

  • EA888 vs N55 is such a change

Interesting this. Because I'm currently perusing M2 BMWs...
I cannot find anything else that has the drama and character that I had with my M140i. I missed the 3.0 for the duration of my S3 ownership (hence EA888 comparison) and my V60 Polestar experience is void and still raw.

    Wicked 335i by the way!

  • In related BMW chat, finally had confirmation that my m340i has started production - delivery hopefully mid January….

  • No. Some mot people want to see a mark at 30/50/70. Most don't.

  • It's that intangible 'character' that I'm really enjoying, an M2 is a whole different beast of course! I drove a Golf R estate (mapped to near 400bgp) a few weeks ago and for all it's awesome ability it was just a bit hollow.

  • Funnily enough I too drove a Golf R estate and just went nah, same but different. I see that whole EA888 VAG platform as ‘fast cars you can give to your mum (and know she is safe)’. Fast, capable, but - sorry owners - uninspiring.
Had I not have had the M140i I think I’d be different in my opinion.
Can’t believe how much the M2 have dropped though, they’re only a few £k off what I bought my M140i for. Now add in the good stuff, LSD etc. they’re actually compatible cost wise to a sorted M140i, but a better performance car all round. Insurance is comically cheaper than my S3 and the V60 - despite a write off earlier in the year.
Seems a no brainer for me. Just begs the question; do I hold my nerve and hope for further price drops or jump in now and lap up the M goodness.

  • Oi that could be my next shed

  • cheers dude. already sorted a (slightly) more local scrap dealer. my last drive in the car will be rolling it on to their trailer next weds.

good to see some BMW love in here.

  • Very tempted by this, 1988 Rangie.

    $59,800 which is around £36,000.

Apparently there's "some" rust on the chassis and body. 10 year ticket but can only be used 45 times in a year.

  • that is superb. and a good price I would have thought.

  • F897 NPE if someone fancies taking a look at the MOT history (I’m blocked due, I assume, to being outside the UK).

I’ve got some worryingly rusty photographs of the underside - let me see if I can post them.

  • Doesn't look bad for an old Range Rover under there, but it'll still need work. I think one that's lived outside of the UK most of its life would be a good buy, less so a recent export that's seen 30+ salty British Winters.

  • The place selling it has just offered to do the work to repair the rust.

Bit of a complex situation here- there are places in Malaysia and Thailand that can do very good quality work for a very reasonable price- but also extremely easy to get taken for a ride.
