If you go for the 1.3, it would be fine, 1.0 is slow but then again my boy racer days are over and it rather comical when a large hill it does struggle a little but not enough to say it will ruin the journey.

Lol. Well that’s fair. As mentioned above, I wish these had taken off instead of SUVs in the city.

i am thinking of getting rid of my 2014 320d estate (because of fucking ULEZ)
i dont drive much and want something:
- fun
- isn't going to cost the earth to maintain / won't die all the time
- nearing bottom of appreciation curve
- up to 11-12k? basically what i would get for my bmw (it has only done 35k miles lol)
mk5 golf gti with non sky-high miles? would go for an r32 but haldex system puts me off
- fun

My Alfa Giulietta Quadrifoglio fits these criteria. Mine was £6k on 102k miles

Meets 1,3 and 4.
Tbh it has only cost me 150 insurance, and 400 for a major service this year...

was wondering how long it would take for someone to suggest a porsche. 2nd reply - not bad! I should have specified it should really be a hatch/estate to transport bikes easily every now and again
@el_presidente are they actually reliable though?

actually reliable
Mine has been fine for 6 months & 5k miles (although last weekend the rear wiper wouldn't switch off until I turned the engine off....)

Surely for that budget a mk7 is firmly in scope.
Or are you thinking of budgeting for performance mods?

Edit: guess only one of those is 'fun' and finding an ST that hasn't had the arse ragged out of it could be challenging.

328 GT
Fucking hell that's an awkward lardy looking thing. A bit like someone shrunk one of those ugly 7 Series in the tumble dryer.

Looks was not in the criteria! It's a bimmer, in budget and massive boot for bikes!

Megane RS? 135i? Or a lexus. Depends what fun means and its relation to the others.

Has anyone experience of an Audi A1 1.6tdi S-Line? My daughter is keen on one - she will be learning to drive in a couple of months.

Incredibly anecdotal....
Idk if it's a fair reflection, but a guy I worked with bought his son an A1 and the engine came away from it's fixing mount. As it's apparently only mounted in one place it wrote the car off.
Other than maybe Mercs in the 00's, I can't think of a car brand where I've encountered as many owners with issues as Audi. However, that maybe because their popular.
Also that seems like quite a lot of power in a very little car for a learner. I think a Fiat 500 or a Mini (which is safer and better on motorways) would be a better choice.

this is also an option. just always been quite fond of a mk5. also less likely to depreciate as much as a mk7 will
i never remember the mk6 being that well rated so haven't looked at them

hate them all - but thanks anyway !

Oh wow this is gorgeous, sounds like a winner you've got there....a proper head turner ! So is this going to be exempt next year as well?
Got the bug again now haha

Thanks for that. I agree re the power but looks seems to be a thing for her. I’m going to get my Audi specialist mechanic go over it and hopefully he will pick up on any issues.

You’re going to fit black screw caps to the front plate when you get a moment, right?
Quality!
