  • Any suggestions for somewhere, ideally in east London to repair some dents in a van?

  • Never mind who would do that to a Ferrari.

  • Now a 914, why would you put the transaxle an engine from a Suburu 2.5 turbo.
    https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-porsche-914-66/

  • I quite like that.

I wonder which gearbox is used, normally people use the VW / Porsche gearbox flipped over with a bellhousing adaptor plate

  • The subaru one.

Same engine that some kiwi lobbed in a fulvia.

  • Yes i saw it's the Subaru one, but which? I'm assuming it's a FWD gearbox, not a 4WD box converted

  • No idea on the porker, but in the advert says that it is subaru 5 speed transaxle. Maybe modded or engine coverted to run the other way?

  • I wonder why you wouldn't stick with an ej20! That would be more than enough.

  • Prefer the '82 Porsche 924 parked behind it tho.

Yeah that's lovely, 4 stud makes me think it's an early non S model with Audi running gear. Much cheaper to run and repair (or so i've heard). I find myself occasionally looking for one as a replacement for the 900 when ULEZ inevitably makes it unusable.

  • 2.5 is more common in the US I think from the Hawkeye onwards.

Unfortunately quite prone to ringland failures though

  • My Subaru Outback (previously of @sacredhart fame) is 22 years old next month, and coincidentally I discovered the Festival of the Unexceptional a few weeks back. Anyone know of similar events in the UK?

  • Not any more, seems that they were cheap once upon a time but everything seems to be getting classic status and hence three or four times the price.

  • No idea, Just saw it on Bring a Trailer so thought you lot would like it.

Up there with the Ferrari Limo.

  • just thought i would share this, my old man is getting on and not in the best of health so decided to sell his unfinished project and clear the house and sheds out of various parts/doors/interiors/bonnets etc. it’s a sierra xr4x4 with a granada cosworth 2.9 engine. it got so far then the chap who was supposed to do the loom never turned up and then his health became the priority and then covid came along.
when he told me he had a chap who runs a ford specialist garage come round and transfer £3k i assumed that was for the part built car and all the ‘junk’ but that was just the deposit and another £10k is on it’s way??
and thats not for everything as he has diffs that are evidently £500 each!? and a load of other bits.

don’t buy an old car it’s a money pit, just buy the parts and hoard them until muppets can’t find that shit anymore...

4 skoda estelle alloy wheels, needing to be refurbed £750 and they went to the czech republic. Looking to sell quite a few fiats 126/7/8 parts and panels that I bought for a little about the scrap metal value as no one wanted them when local fiat dealers disposed of them. So as I had 'free' storage I can make money on them ;)

Also nice set up, just think that cossie engine no one really wanted and the granada they were in no one cared about.

  • Yeah, that's what I was thinking. A built
EJ20 is meant to be a pretty tough engine in comparison to the 2.5.

  • Back from some holidays and some of the classic cars on display in a random small town Vermont summer fair is impressive.
