  • Put 15" steels and chunky all-seasons tyres on my Mini. Yes it desperately needs a wash

  • I like it. Weirdly purposeful.

  • Exterior is horrible.

    Interior is pretty nice though...

Hope it filters down to the lower BMWs quicker than the styling does!

  • are you sure that's not a boat?

  • I'd get an estate, but I really don't understand saloon cars.

  • lol

Even water in the wing mirror so maybe...

  • @sam_w IRT cars with the 3rd row which fold down into the boot, the only thing I'd be concious of is lack of airbags. Dedicated 7 seaters, like a Sharan, will likely have airbags positioned back there. In the rare occasion we ferry more than 4 passengers, we stick adults in the fold-up 3rd row of our Touran.

  • Ah interesting, hadn't considered the safety aspect, of lack of airbags. Interestingly apparently the Toyota Verso does have airbags in the back, which things like the S Max and Zafira do not.

Rear seats would only be for occasional use for sure.

  • Have you looked at the xc90?

    Safest boots seats too iirc.

  • I have. Was trying to avoid getting an SUV shape, one because they are expensive and two the fact they are nearly all diesel too, but I may have to reconsider them/

  • What about a Genesis? Strange, not seen one IRL yet.

  • They've only hit the UK in the last two months I think. Dealerships aren't even open yet.

  • I wouldn't even bother looking for petrol. They're so few and far between - also iirc they are proper low mpg.

  • Yeah. What I really want is a 7 seat electric car... for under £10k. Where do I sign up for one of those?

  • Ah OK. Assume they'll be entirely separate from Hyundai dealerships then? Anyway, hideous.

  • i just picked up the golf from having the alloys done - pro alloys in melksham. would recommend

  • £600 on this, then the rest on an electric conversion.

  • They're going up against Lexus, Infiniti + (BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc).

Pretty certain that they're opening specific dealerships as they'll expect customers to have a different 'experience' to Hyundai.

I'm not a fan of the exterior design but they're nice on the inside:

  • I really don't get this quilted stitching thing. Is it some sort of Asian lux thing I'm missing?

It reminds me of going sofa shopping.

  • Hides imperfections in the leather & looks premium (they're really trying to make it look like a cheap Bentayga).

  • Guess it's just personal preference.

To me it looks like an affectation, rather than premium.

  • Was going to say, that wheel looks very Bentley.

  • Can confirm; both statements are correct.

I had a '14 Gen 1 Xc90 as when I was in the market originally the Get 2 was out of our price range. It's a great utility vehicle, perfect for a family and as you're looking for - a 7 seater when required. There are lots of all though out features that make it a good buy for a family and I understand their popularity:

    1. Removable centre arm rest box for middle seat leg room on a long run
    2. Split tail gate - if you've got a nappy wearing youngster then never unpack the boot again, just change them there and then.
      To name but a few...

But they are a thirsty beast, we're talking 30mpg everywhere, A/B/Motorway. The 2.4 diesel lump is solid though. '10 onwards is 200BHP. <'10 is 185 and somewhere there is a 163ish iteration. It's not car like, it's willowy and in no way inspiring to drive. But it'll get you there - with a stop at a petrol station on the way. I would say you want the most power you can afford in it.

Prices are also bonkers - we PXd ours earlier this year for a smidge more than we paid for it 2 years before and we'd put 30k extra on the clock. Stayed in the Xc90 family, and got a gen 2 - at the right time too as it's WBAC valuation is up £5k on the purchase price. Now the Gen 2 is a whole different beast. Car like and a lot more refined...

  • Just bought this to replace our smax- import from Singapore vw sharan 2.0tsi petrol with less than 40k miles for less than £6k. Looks immaculate from the photos but we’ll see when it arrives in February
