Camper van place, who have ignored me since I placed my order unless I called them five days in a row, have just emailed me asking for £40k by "the end of November at the latest".
Absolutely do not do this

I could (not that I would) buy this today:
https://www.sandown-group.co.uk/used-cars/mercedes-benz-mp-class-marco-polo-250-d-kx17zxa/
Then put the rear seats in the garage and mount bike attachment points to the floor rails.

I’d not have the built in bike washer, mind.

Why wouldn’t you? Available, cheaper than the VW and you could still have it customised with money to spare.

And could only carry two people, or four people and zero bikes inside?
Isn’t them asking for £40k the expected next step as per the terms?

It is diesel :/

It's certainly what the terms at that link say - to an extent, anyway, the "12 weeks before" thing is a bit of a stretch given they can't say when the vehicle will actually be delivered to them.
However, it's not what the MD told me the terms were when I went to meet him.

There's only two of us.

Discovered whilst on a search for a cheap ULEZ compliant runaround. Which got diverted due to my love of Honda Insights, and Minis.

It's not getting there that matters, it's getting back out again if there's a sudden squall.

Sort of reminds my of the saying, the best [insert] is the one you have on you.

Yes thankfully it finally stopped raining. That said I drove through some good mud, 100 metres long and no hassle.

You should try taking it up to Coldharbour cricket club in winter!

I would but best not to associate oneself with cricket currently.

Can someone explain carrying your bike on the roof of your car to me? I can't work it out. I don't really like the idea (climate crime) but it would sometimes be useful, especially if i could get the parts second hand. But I cannot fathom it and don't want to just go to halfrods and get my wallet inspected. I have a Mazda 6 from 2007 if that is helpful. It looks like it has some plastic covers on the roof which i assume are for a roof rack.
Please... I'm 36 next year... someone help me fulfil my mamil potential

Plastic covers that have mounting points underneath?

I went to see that Mercedes Marco Polo camper - it was haggard, and I don't say that lightly.
Just shy of 30,000 miles and it had been beaten through every last one of them.
Dented, scratched, missing buttons - every time you moved inside it more trim just fell off the cabinets and other fixtures.

Got to be a serious consideration given the VW is £25k+ more. Think of all the customisations/ new bike you could get for that.
Say you'll take out the finance and when delivered pay the cash?
